It's just a little game we call, "What I Should Have Said/What I Said:"
What I Should Have Said: "Well, it's still early, and of course there's the traffic, and you never know when a cell phone's going to run out of battery, and I'm sure he'll call as soon as he gets to a gas station. You have nothing to worry about, really."
What I Said: "Maybe he's dead."
