WALL*E: A Capsule Review - M Fnord - 06-27-2008 Pixar knocks it out of the park again. I don't think these guys have a bad movie in them. Absolutely brilliant, beautiful picture. Not so much "highly recommended" as "what the hell are you doing sitting around on the Internet, fool? GO SEE IT NOW! NOW NOW NOW!" Also, it has Satchmo, and Peter Gabriel. *Everything's* better with Satchmo and Peter Gabriel. Mr. Fnord interdimensional man of mystery FenWiki - Your One-Stop Shop for Fenspace Information "I. Drink. Your. NERDRAGE!" - Niteflier - 06-28-2008 Having just gotten back from seeing it myself, all I can say is 'Wow'. Wow. Oh, and stick around for the credits, its got a cute sprite animation.... And Mo is obsessive/compulsive. - Kurisu - 06-28-2008 I saw it today as well... It was a good excuse to borrow the neighbor's kids so I wouldn't look like an idiot for wanting to see a 'G' rated film. The way they incorporated live-action scenes into the film was brilliant. _____ DEATH is Certain. The hour, Uncertain... - Sweno - 06-29-2008 Just back from seeing it myself. I second the recommendation of Fnord, It's a great movie. It's amazing the amount of empathy they can instill in characters that get to say less than ten worlds. I'm also pleasantly surprised at the amount of content for adults in the movie. I would hesitate to call it a movie for all ages (my grandfather wouldn't get it), but I think it's something that most people would enjoy. I was almost fooled into thinking they would end it on a down note, but then I remembered it was a kids movie. Go. See. I was holding it together really well through that scene. Then off to my left, a little girl voice said "mommy? what's wrong with wally?" ....aw crap... Well okay. That's my excuse for a little manly weeping... This movie is brilliant, brilliant BRILLIANT. I love how they initially set you up to have contempt for the humans, until you see that they're not so bad after all, they're just BORED. And the Captain is positively HEROIC when he finds his purpose. But of course, Wally is just a lovable agent of pure chaos! Hee hee hee...^_^ That pas de deux outside of the ship with the Eve and the fire extinguisher..... SIGH... The end credits actually reminded me of Nausicaa in a way! Gorram it - I'm gonna have to go see it AGAIN, and this year, only Iron Man has had that honor so far. - Black Aeronaut - 07-05-2008 Yeah, this movie's definitely going into my collection along with all the rest of the Pixar movies. Wall*E and Eve are adorable and highly amusing. Everytime I heard Eve go, "WAAALLL-EEEEEE!!!" it made me snicker - it put me in mind of the loving wife being infuriated by her well meaning but bumbling husband. |
