The Dark Knight - Logan Darklighter - 07-19-2008 Just got back from seeing it. ... ... ... ... Uhm... ... ... ... Nope. I got nothing. No words. I'm still processing. Oh.... If you can see it at IMAX, do so. But SEE IT. It is EVERYTHING that has been hyped on, and 110% beyond. Get back to you later, after I put the tiny pieces of my brain back together. My mind, she is blown. - Wiregeek - 07-19-2008 in Imax? lucky dog.. we're about 3 years away from having Imax up here.. "No can brain today. Want cheezeburger." From NGE: Nobody Dies, by Gregg Landsman http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5579457/1/NGE_Nobody_Dies - CrimsonKMR - 07-19-2008 AMAZING. That is all There is no coincidence, only necessity.... - Clow Reed - Foxboy - 07-20-2008 Agreed. *spoiler villain* was VERY well done. And the late Heath Ledger as the Joker was AMAZING. I adored the "reverse shout-oust" to scenes from the 1989 Batman movie. ''We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.'' -- James Nicoll - katreus - 07-20-2008 I thought it was well done if depressing. I do think the two ferries subplot was pretty cool and some of the Joker's plots were pretty well planned (which, oddly enough, did seem to survive contact with the enemy). The hope at the end... well, it is a hope but it's sort of like then I will have shade because there are so many arrows in the air hope. Some really hard choices made by people. Pretty good movie. I liked it although unlike my friend, who loves Batman, I won't shell out another 10 bucks to re-watch it in IMAX. - Star Ranger4 - 07-20-2008 Like Logan, I saw it friday and I too, still dont quite know what to think. there was just SO much. About the only thing I didnt agree with was that apparently there is still a bit of killing off people you'd think you'd want to have around later. And yet... and yet... DAMN YOU HEATH!!! WE NEED YOU FOR THE SEQUELS!!!! I have to say that your one of the first people I've seen who really GETS that clown... Hear that thunder rolling till it seems to split the sky? That's every ship in Grayson's Navy taking up the cry- NO QUARTER!!! -- "No Quarter", by Echo's Children - Wiregeek - 07-21-2008 There are a lot of people saying that Heath Ledger did the _perfect_ Joker. they're vastly underestimating the truth of the matter. In_Credible_. I have 2 minor nits, and those are VERY minor.. Highlight for spoilers. Two-Face died - this seemed like a waste of a good character. Also, Harvey was a little more messed up than I'd ever pictured him. Incredible makeup/SFX job, sure, but.. blech. Secondly, and this is a trivial nit - Batman rasped WAY too hard at times. End spoilers. "No can brain today. Want cheezeburger." From NGE: Nobody Dies, by Gregg Landsman http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5579457/1/NGE_Nobody_Dies - Ebony - 07-21-2008 Saw it on Saturday. I'm impressed. It was very, very good. Two nits: 1. The Batbike? Looked like it was held together by happy thoughts. It needed some weight to that frame to go with those tires. 2. Not. Enough. Two-Face. (Two-Face is my favorite Bat villain.) Ebony the Black Dragon http://ebony14.livejournal.com "Good night, and may the Good Lord take a Viking to you." - Bob Schroeck - 07-21-2008 Rrrr. Haven't seen it yet, though Peg and I did get to see Hellboy II (capsule summary: see). Gotta find out if she wants to go see it sometime soon. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - WengFook - 07-21-2008 Quote: Ebony wrote: 1. That made me lol HARD. 2. *Spoiler* I don't understand why Two-face, died from that fall Batman didn't :S Also I think Harvey was a walking dead man since infection would be getting him if the fall didn't :S Everything the Joker did in this movie really brought home that saying 'theres a method to his madness.' _________________________________ Take Your Candle, Go Light Your World. - Ebony - 07-21-2008 Quote: WengFook wrote: Indeed. Response to spoiler: Harvey wasn't expecting the fall and, despite his madness, was only a normal man. Plus, he was a victim of the plot. Batman could be said to be physically conditioned to take damage and was wearing armor. Also, he didn't so much fall as drop; he was prepared for the impact. Or better prepared than someone shoved off the edge the way that Harvey was. Ebony the Black Dragon http://ebony14.livejournal.com "Good night, and may the Good Lord take a Viking to you." - Wiregeek - 07-21-2008 Profane response to WengFook's spoiler: Because he's the goddamn Batman, of course! From NGE: Nobody Dies, by Gregg Landsman http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5579457/1/NGE_Nobody_Dies - Sweno - 07-22-2008 I saw it today and really liked some of the things they did (Joker was cool). other things (batman must sound like has been gargling with gravel) I didn't like so much. But definitely a movie to see. -Terry ----- "so listen up boy, or pornography starring your mother will be the second worst thing to happen to you today" TF2: Spy - Herr Bad Moon - 07-22-2008 Just got out of a sold out 10:20 showing. Amazing. --- Jon "And that must have caused my dad's brain to break in half, replaced by a purely mechanical engine of revenge!" - Rev Dark - 07-22-2008 Saw it, loved it. Sure he can fall. He is Splat-man! While all the primaries were very good; I was impressed by Eric Roberts in the minor role of the gangster. Great actor when he is kept on a tight leash. Spoilerage I don't think you can count Harvey as Dent as a doornail. Chances are he is waking up in Arkham for a nice long gibber and an eventual return. - Bob Schroeck - 07-28-2008 Just saw it last night. Yow. That's one densely packed movie. And could the metaphor for post-9/11 America be a little more obvious? The only downside for me was that some treacherous part of my mind couldn't help thinking, "Damn! If only Doug were there!" Which was rather distracting. (And no, I'm not going to write it. Maybe a version with the crew from "Girls, Girls, Girls", but not Doug.) In any case, awesome and disturbing both. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. |
