1st hour - loaded disc into DVD driver. Won't install. Downloaded newest video drivers.
2nd hour - Looked at the the support website. Found the fix. Decided to download steam. Installation of engine and upgrades takes another hour.
3rd hour - Finally installed game from disk to hard drive. Finally! Clicked on game icon! Nothing. Waaah!? Turn on steam. Updating game. it sez..will be done in...1 hour!?
Facepalm...

Total War Rome II
Edit: Oh yeah, it did state at the back of the package you need a steam account to activate it. Why it was not there in the instructions, I have no idea.

The good news is they've done so updates (which is why they now called it the Emperor edition) that is looks pretty good now. I finally launched it and it works. Now I get to play for this weekend.

I know I had an annoying problem when I installed Portal II. Apparently the game would not work with the most recent update to my graphics driver. I had to roll it back to the default before I could play the game. Now I avoid ever updating my graphics driver just in case it prevents me from playing Portal II again.
