From memory, I believe the next Doctor is never amongst the first lot of names put forward. Whether that is intentional or just a lack of imagination by bookies is another matter but I suspect the 13th Doctor will be someone who is never linked with the role until his/her name leaks out.

I'm pretty sure the list robkelk linked to is entirely tongue in cheek, seeing as it includes such possibilities as 'Stephen Hawking', 'K2SO', 'Jeremy Clarkson', 'Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins', and my personal fav, 'Tom Baker' (who's running a close second to Clarkson)
