Flash Development Tools...
Flash Development Tools...
#1
I've got an idea for a little bit of Flash animation for my website, and I've been looking around for free/open source Flash authoring tools to try my
hand at. However, a little research turns up a goodly number of them. I was wondering if anyone had any preferences or recommendations before I pick one.
Thanks!

*loathes Flash*

That said, so long as you don't require its usage and bury the site in it, you won't call down my wrath. Big Grin

And more on topic: I don't have a true personal recommendation, but, some of my coworkers swore by Ajax Animator. Google sez it's here: http://osflash.org/ajaxanimator; the 'last updated' there is a bit unnerving, but I dunno how fast the Flash
environment moves, so YMMV.

Nah I just want to animate the masthead on the top page -- spin the Earth, then have the red "no" slash/circle stamp down on top of it along with the name of the site.

I was looking at that earlier tonight. It has the advantage of running right off the web, yet letting me save my stuff locally. It's definitely one of the ones I was considering.

I may be something of a purist when it comes to this.

If you are just looking to animate something, why not an animated gif?

Or is this an excuse to try out your skills in relation to the job hunt? (a perfectly valid excuse for using flash)

Well, yes, it's connected to expanding my skills. And Silverlight isn't supported in enough browsers.
