11-13-2010, 05:32 AM
According to http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/blogs/ ... -sam-44664, Sam Raimi has a "live-action anime" project in development.
The anime: Noir
If this happens, it's going to be awesome.

Yowza. That's gonna be a must-watch. And do I misread, or are they talking a continuing series, not just a movie?

I'm looking at my box set of Noir right now and I just can't stop grinning.
Maybe I'll watch the fight in the casino again tonight.

This has the potential to be really good.
Or it might, you know, suck. Completely.

It might suck, but I think Sam Raimi is a better director than that... (crosses fingers anyway)
Edit: Let's not forget that Mr. Raimi is one of the few directors working today who actually gives a damn about the source material of his adaptations - compare the Spider-Man movies he directed to the ones he didn't, for example. He knows what he's doing.
(Is it too soon for the betting pool for which episode has the Bruce Campbell cameo?

I'm hoping, but I've been burned plenty of times. I find expecting the worst and being occasionally pleasantly suprised much preferable to expecting the best and being always disapointed. Besides there are too many ways for the suits to mess this up. For starters:
1) Introducing love interests for the girls.
2) Wimping out on the "hired killers" part.

And he'll look absolutely fabulous in that black miniskirt.

My bet for Bruce Campbell is that he'll be the old retired general / ex-war-criminal that Kirika gets hired to take out, and ends up protecting from the other team of killers.

If it is going to be a redone verson of the seriesmy bet is that soldier/painter that was Kirika's love interest for about one episode.

Bah. Bah, I say. I still want John Woo to get off his lazy ass and do "Gunsmith Cats." Because, seriously, that series has Woo-tastic written aaaaaallllll over it. Rally kicks a clip of ammo into her gun, fer chrissakes!
