Another reason not to use Internet Explorer
12-13-2012, 08:20 PM
(This post was last modified: 01-28-2018, 02:31 PM by Bob Schroeck.)
Like you needed one.
It tracks your cursor anywhere on your screen, even when it's minimized along with the shift, control and alt key statuses. It also exposes all this data for anything on the page to see and use with the right code -- which is apparently only 21 lines long. Live demo here. (Obviously it only works on IE.) According to the security analyst who discovered this, at least two ad firms are actively using this misfeature to track web users' every movement.

Firefox man myself, Bob. Thanks for the tip, though.

I use them all. Firefox for day-to-day things, Opera for when firing up the 'fox is too much, and Chrome for lolwhynot.
As for IE, I find it makes a wonderful tool for downloading better browsers.

Man... I had to think for a second as to whether I even still had IE on my system, then I realized that yes, I do, since it's embedded in the damn OS and I CAN'T get rid of it.
But I removed pretty much all icons and reference to it from my hotbars years ago. I'd actually have to go find the actual folder it's sitting in to go activate it.
I alternate between Firefox and Chrome these days.

I use IE for youtube and a couple flash-based online games, because then I don't have to install flash for Firefox. (Which, given how many tabs I tend to have open, would probably lead to Issues.)

Use Chrome for flash (as it has it's own contained version). That way you can uninstall flash from your system in general.

I actually use IE 9/10 and Chrome about equally myself.

I use Opera and Chrome for my browsing (Firefox is here, but the memory leaks got to be too much.) Honestly, if it wasn't for needing to test web designs, and use Windows Update, I'd like to be able to just delete it and move on.

Work requirement for me, otherwise I just use Chrome.
Firefox guy, always hated IE, didn't really need another reason to run from IE like a plague, but another reason why I shouldn't use IE never hurts.
Thanks, Bob.

I personally run on Seamonkey at home. But because I work for a website, I have to use every major browser at one time or another.

Sure you can, just get rid of the OS too :p
