Maleficent

Peg and I just saw Maleficent this afternoon -- and we both say, go see it. It is visually spectacular, well written, and just as subversive of "traditional" Disney fare as Frozen was.

I rather enjoyed it myself.
The scene with the faeries/aunties first attempt to feed baby Aurora was amusing.

The casting is also impressive -- I understand that they looked for performers who bore a strong resemblence to the animated characters -- which they not only did, they also turned in great performances. Oh, the five-year-old Aurora -- "Up! Up!" -- was Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter.

Yeah, I remember a behind-the-scenes promo that said that they chose her because she was the only child that could be relied on not to get scared by Angelina's Maleficent getup.Dunno if it is actually true but it makes a great soundbite.
