Velvet Scarletina, who keeps being mistaken for an immigrant from Australia, watches Rabbit-Proof Fence.

She most likely comes to the conclusion that humans can be just as nasty to other humans as they can be toward fanus. "Those poor girls..."

Dr. Shea fondly remembers his college days, and one of the things he did back then was patronize a particular fast-food chain. He shows up at Douglass Gardens with his wife, hoping to introduce her to the experience (the chain doesn't have a location in Vicksburg), but the New Brunswick location closed over a decade ago. Thus, a road trip is in order... Hilarity Ensues.

What, you didn't notice that I already marked the easiest-to-reach White Castle on the Douglass Gardens map?

Oh, I did. But I didn't make the connection, because those two aren't in one of the residences I tend to write about.

Okay, somebody in Refuge is going to need this recipe.

Japanese-Style Bagels, using ingredients one can buy off-the-shelf in Canada, in three styles: Fuwa (which from the description appears to be like Montreal style), Mochi-mochi (even chewier than fuwa), and Mugyu (which is described as being like New York style).

A possible background gag for the Eva/Firefly household could be Jayne rebuilding his gun collection, while trying to keep Kensuke from crowding him as the teenager fanboys over the various guns. And if someone could tell him where he can get a Saiga-12 that he can dress up with the right accessories so he can have Vera back (at least visually), that'd be nice too.

I also like the idea that, for all of his casual lawbreaking as part of Serenity's crew, Jayne is very strict on making sure every gun in his collection is legal, with all the proper permits.

Oh, I like this. I'll toss it onto Jayne''s wiki page for further development.

Thanks, Terrace!

Has anyone here heard of Prof. Anne Jamison?

Wikipedia Wrote:Anne Elizabeth Jamison is an American professor of English at University of Utah noted primarily for her work on fan fiction.

...

Her book Fic: Why Fanfiction is Taking Over The World was published by Penguin Random House in 2013.

If we want to give an English professor a cameo in our fanfic, she might be a good choice. Maybe.

For a double-whammy, how about making her a colleague or collaborator with Prof. Annette Hebert? <grin>

We'd have to bring another story into Refuge if we did that. we already have Real Life in the setting.

Well, Saurial's already turning up at the Halloween party. Maybe the import isn't the original; it's the giant fanfic.
