God, I'm old. I remember my Dad dragging the entire family to watch this.

Oh yeah, I remember this movie.
And Elsa, I see your "old" and raise you "ancient". I was in my second year of college when this came out.

Wow, that beats me. I was in Grade 2.
Still one of my favorite movies.--

As I just recently said somewhere else -- I forget where now, but it was online -- when I started my Freshman year of college, Jimmy Carter was still President of the United States. Not for very much longer, but still President.
That never fails to get me great big eyes from the under-15 set among the various friends and relatives.

See your "ancient" and raise you "antediluvian." I'd gotten my Masters degree, searched unsuccessfully for a job in that field, joined the Army to pay off my student loan, and was already on station at the East German border when Firefox came out.

Assuming your high school went to grade 12 (i.e., it wasn't in Ontario, which went to 13 at the time), that makes us the same age.
Y'know, one of these days, I'm going to have to actually watch this movie...

Just thought I'd mention there was a sequel book to Firefox.
It's called "Firefox Down" and I remember reading it.
It was okay, but I'm not recommending you hunt it up.

Yeah, I seem to remember that...
Basicly the firefox runs out of gas out at sea even after the sub based polar refuling and they have to fish it out of a lake somewhere. Like norway I think as I recall an undertone of cant let the russkies know we're still gonna get her back.
