Except the reason its there in the first place is that a soyuz capsule comes back to earth with on a ground-landing.

And the first time it landed, there was some rather nervous moments around the first capsule before the recovery team got to the capsule.

They had landed in the woods, and the wolves were hungry, you see.

After spending an hour with the capsule buttoned up while they circled around, the cosmonauts wanted a gun in case it happened again.
