Sigh...

You know, guys, when someone sticks an RFC tag onto something, then some sort of response is desired, even if that response is something as rude and uncouth as a suggestion to perform an anatomical impossibility.
At this point, I get the message now. I won't pester anyone with anything related to DSKS anymore.

Sorry BA. The general layout of the story is something that I have seen before. That's not to say it's a bad idea, it has been proven to work.
But given the limited amount of free time I had, it didn't grab my attention enough to displace other things.
So I guess I'm trying to say, don't give up just because no one jumped all over it.
and DSKS = Dear *something* Kami Sama (I think)

Well, I'm something of an inveterate lurker, so I don't know that you can count on much from me in the future, let alone anything useful. That said, I have enjoyed what I've seen from you in regards to DSKS, and it'd be sad if you completely abandoned it.
So! I read the bit you posted Thursday, and what stuck out most was that Zeke's cousin's attitude seesawed back and forth an awful lot. That can work, but it'll probably take some effort. Also, the angry grandfather/granduncle is hovering around the divide between character and caricature. Further, I know that folks can be utterly irrational about family, but why this guy still has any influence in his grandson's life may take some explaining.

There's something new for DSKS? My one-week vacation starts now - I can probably spend some time on it.
(goes and looks)
Er... where is it?

What Bob said, but on a PSP. Also, do you have an index for all the story parts? I lost track of it during my previous offline period.

blackaeronaut,
I certainly intended no such hints.
My silence was due to three factors.
1. For the past week and a half or so, I have been fried more or less to the point of being non-verbal.
2. I read fast and write very slowly. It is fairly common for me to see something, get partway into a response, and be unable to complete it in a timely fashion. Just the recent lengthy responses in this forum that I've partway thought out and have yet to type out alone... I've neglected finding the correct words in favor of getting this out quicker.
3. I was unable, at the time, to come up with enough meat in my reaction to be worth troubling you.
Going off memory, and without anything to refer to, I can only come up with the following shoddy effort.
Internal family troubles can certainly do what you have them doing. Yes, they are often used, but this is because they can work for this.
My memories of the earlier writings on this project were so patchy that I only had a vague notion of what this sketch meant. How this sketch would be executed into the rest of the work could potentially make so much a difference that I have trouble drawing any firm conclusions. Which I guess I should have translated into 'seems workable'.
I haven't the background on tribal law to say much about the legalities of the punishment of the killing. I could ramble, but I don't think I know anything that you can't find out more easily from other sources if it matters to you. I have some musing about the legalities of filicide under Roman Law*, but that isn't relevant. Also: If Chutzpah is a Patricide/Matricide crying mercy on account of being an orphan, what do you call crying leniency on account of needing to care for the Grandson whose parents one murdered?
*Knowledge of the Roman legal code is incomplete, and my background is weak, but they had some pretty vile personal habits.
Hidden Leaf makes me think of Naruto.
Does Teletha have any mystic training?
From what I recall of what was posted of the well developed sections of the story, this sketch includes two members of that subsection of the cast. The additional background details discussed were not, I think, hugely important to the portions I remember reading. There was in this sketch at least one character clearly being prepped for later uses, and two other possibles. (I have a vague idea that I'd maybe forgotten the cousin rival being introduced. If I have, maybe this sketch slots in better with knowledge of that.) Basically, the level of detail seems funny, and I had a bit of trouble finding out the intent of the post. Which maybe I should have translated to 'please expand'/'please clarify about what exactly you are trying to express'/'for this type of outline, shouldn't you say what entity the cousin-rival shacked up with'/'RomanFanboy is silly and incoherent'.
Anything further that I could say might count as trying to impose my tastes on your writing project. (I have a peculiar pet interpretation of FMP's worldbuilding.) I may have already gone overboard as it is.
Whatever environment you find congenial to complete the project in, I do hope that if you work elsewhere, you will make us aware of new sections as they are brought to a fuller state.
Jinx999,
_Dear Sweet Kami-Sama_ It is essentially a romantic comedy of many harems. The central character, Zeke, is a young American national in Japan with both mystic and technical aptitudes. Properties that I remember and enjoy include Sailor Moon, Full Metal Panic, and Ranma. There is also Invader Lum, which I don't know if I enjoy or not.
Zeke's a good kid, and as I recall, a lot of the humor involves circumstances pushing him into dealing with or taking responsibility for lots of bizarre situations.
It has some good bits, and some potential, but I wouldn't know where to point you at all the pieces, or if anything bitrotted off in the transition to yuku. I enjoyed it, and found it funny.

I've gotten enough silence on my (many, many half-finished) projects to know how that feels, and to not want to do that to somebody else.
My problem is something like CD's. I've lost track of what already exists for DSKS, since it's been (insert ridiculous amount of time here) since I read anything about it, and it's so scattered that finding all of it would be a nontrivial task. Hard to fulfill an RFC when you don't have context, ya?

I'd like to apologize a bit for my melodrama. I've been having a pretty bad time here on my end - been staying with my Uncle and he's introducing me to some very unpleasant truths. The night I edited my post I was having one of the worst bouts of depression I'd had in a long time... I wasn't even this bad when I had to leave the Navy and had no choice in the matter.
Anyhow, I'll go ahead what I had earlier. Most of the Dear Sweet Kami-sama stuff should be easy to find, just search for the DSKS tag.
