IIRC, my Junior High Marching Band did a Buddy Holly tribute show for the 30th anniversary. "Chantilly Lace" is kinda hard to do with slightly unskilled wind instrumentalists, and most folks only really knew "La Bamba" for Ritchie...

Not only that, but according to George RR Martin and Edward Bryant, he released a new album of stuff in the late 80s, after being forbidden to play his own material by the record labels.
