It's 2010 - where's my blues music?

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/ottawa/story/2 ... ineup.html]The Ottawa Bluesfest announced their lineup today.

Santana?

Matthew Good??

Joan Jett???

Iron Maiden, for Belldandy's sake???

Out of sixteen headline acts, I don't recognize any of them as blues acts.

Maybe I should start up a blues festival in Ottawa. We don't seem to have one this year...

No, no, no, the idea is not to play the blues, it's to make you feel the blues.

There are some blues acts listed, but then there's those acts whose styles are descendants of blues. Therefore you're looking at a general music festival rather than a specalised one. Just needs some more jazz, ska, punk & big band to make it so.

We've got a perfectly good http://ottawajazzfestival.com/]jazz festival, not to mention a http://www.chamberfest.com/dotnetnuke/]chamber music festival, a http://www.capitalslam.com/]slam competition, and a http://www.ottawafringe.com/]fringe festival, amongst http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_at ... her_Events]others. It's just the blues festival that's become a general-music festival...
