Architect Info Released!
Architect Info Released!
#1
Over on massively.com here: http://www.massively.com/2009/02/26/ful ... of-heroes/
And the followup thread on the CoH forums here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat ... art=1&vc=1
And a quote from phosyb in that thread that made me laugh hysterically:
Quote:"Up to 25 objectives in each missions. (seriously?!!??! my god... find 25 glowies on Oranbega caves.... don't make me cry!)"
This
is a bit misleading. Its 25 different objectives, but the only real
limit what the map can hold. For example, if the map can hold 200 floor
items, one objective could be: Collect the Trash Cans, Quantity: 200

Quote:Mission Architect's key features
  • System for creating missions is built into the game. A
company called "Architect Entertainment" offers a virtual world
experience for heroes and villains. You enter this company, create your
adventure via a Holodeck-like interface and share it with the world.
  • XP and influence rewards for player-created missions are exactly the same as any other mission rewards.
  • You
can level a character from level 1 to level 50 solely through Architect
Entertainment at an equivalent rate to leveling elsewhere.
  • Missions can be shared with anyone regardless of what server or side someone plays on.
  • The
mission browser is for people who just want to play the user created
content. You can sort these stories by name, highest rated, length and
    recently added.
  • You can rate a mission from 1-5 stars after completing it.
  • Depending
on how well the mission is rated, its creator will get in-game benefits
and could even enter a Hall of Fame. Incentives!
  • Missions of high regard could become Dev Choice, where even more rewards lie in wait.
  • A mysterious third tier exists, but more on that later...
Inappropriate content
  • Language filters check for unwanted words and won't allow publishing them until they're removed.
  • Players can flag content for inappropriateness.
  • All users and flags are tracked for any potential vote griefing.
Enemies
  • Every enemy group that's been in the game since launch is available.
  • Conversely, you can create custom enemies and enemy groups.
  • Pick from minions, lieutenants, bosses.
  • Give enemies any powers you want.
Miscellaneous
  • Local stories are on your actual harddrive, and you can have as many as you can store.
  • These local stories can be tested by you or your party, but they are not considered published yet.
  • While playing local stories, you gain no rewards as this is meant for testing.
  • There's a separate section for creating your own custom characters for missions.
  • Architect Entertainment buildings are in 19 different zones.
  • Each account can have up to 3 published story arcs.
  • A story arc can be made of up to 5 missions.
  • Up to 25 objectives in each missions.

Major points I noticed:

Quote: - XP and influence rewards for player-created missions are exactly the same as any other mission rewards

- You can level a character from level 1 to level 50 solely through Architect Entertainment at an equivalent rate to leveling elsewhere.
Interesting possibilities here, especially when you combine them with.....

Quote: Missions can be shared with anyone regardless of what server or side someone plays on.
Co-op gameplay that doesn't have to be in the RWZ or Cimerora. Oh, the possibilities....

  • Every enemy group that's been in the game since launch is available.

  • Conversely, you can create custom enemies and enemy groups.

  • Pick from minions, lieutenants, bosses.

  • Give enemies any powers you want.

Confirms a lot of stuff here that'd been questioned about. Apparently the Lady Nogitsune's ninja nightmare is indeed possible. "Custom enemy
groups" also suggests that "The Night Of a Million Catgirls" is also possible.

So, Hall of Fame, Dev's Choice, and ???

Custom enemy editor screenie

And maps

"Map pacing"? Presumably the placement of mob density, maybe? Similar to how Warriorgeddon is absolutely GLUTTED with Warriors compared to most maps?

Quote: Rewards: Full XP/Inf. As you defeat guys, every time you WOULD HAVE gotten an enhancement or something, you get skii ball tickets, you
also get a big bonus of tickets (based on what you did in the mission). Ticket vendor inside AE building, with stuff to buy, including enhancements, recipes,
salvage (but those are kinda expensive), or you can buy the same random rolls, and those tickets have been balanced vs the normal missions. If you play 1-50
in the MA, your reward should be about the same if you play 1-50 outside the MA.

Maps you can buy with the tickets that are a bit more unique, costume pieces you can buy that are a bit above and beyond. Unique versions of enemies with
different sets of powers (like another version or Lord Recluse with a different set of powers).

Get tickets when people rate your missions. Tickets are account based (at least the ones from mission ratings).

You can rate once per account (not character).
Oh my.

They say that -all- models are available for us... and all maps are available... some with the purchase of tickets.

Hoo Boy... To give you the scope of that, visit something I use when mucking about with demos, the CoH Codex. In particular, the list of Maps, and models, and powers.

That site is accurate as of issue i12/13.

Then they toss in unique ticket only versions of some models...

Then they toss in custom toons...

Positron named Bobitron shooting Fire!

A Ghost Widow called Sandra tossing smoke bombs!

A Large Oranbega map full of Snaptooth called Filling!

A Longbow Map with Ralaruu spilling out of containment!

...and the list goes on...

We are going to have -FUN- this this...

-Break-

This is going to require some serious thought.
