Evanescence: Bring Me to Life
Evanescence: Bring Me to Life

Valles mentioned this back in '03 as a "magical defibrillator," and that works, I agree. I'm sure I saw another reference to it, too, but now I can't find it anywhere, and I don't recall what the powers were for that one.
But what's been nagging at me is that a month or so ago, I listened to it again, and developed a sudden *very* strong feeling that Doug could use this song to cure people who've become vampires against their will.
"Where I've become so numb without a soul
My spirit sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home"
And then I recalled once or twice seeing vampires under the control of other vampires described as "servitors," and my mind made a wild leap:
Servitor. Servant. Oh....
Possibly that would be too powerful. On the other hand, if it *did* break people free of the Servant Factor, that doesn't mean it'd change the mindsets of those who were villains *before* Arcanum infected them -- it just would mean they're no longer his unconditional loyalists. And it *doesn't* take away their powers.
Subject to approval of your GM, of course. But I felt the need to suggest it.

No, for plot reasons Doug was never allowed to have a song that successfully broke the grip of the Servant Factor. (It was never outright forbidden, but it was never a success, either...) It's not likely to change now.
A defibrulator effect I think would be a bit too literal; given how rich that song is musically and lyrically, something more should certainly be within the realm of possibility.
At the moment, though, I have it cued up as one of two candidates for the background music of the climactic moments of the Utena Step. (Thanks to the AMV "Roseate Nocturne".) It is, in fact, at this time currently informing and influencing some of the imagery in and around the final confrontation between Akio and Utena.

It's spelt "Frodo Baggins" but it's pronounced "Throat-wobbler Mangrove."
