Simulacrum: Agatha Heterodyne

"Sparks"

from _Night Castle_ by Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Lines

Of a tale

Cut in the face of a crowd

Sentenced no bail

There

In the night

Deep in the back

Through the black

Beckons a life

Time

Moving in a straight line

But then at a whim

A change in the wind

A story begins in its mind

For deep in her eyes

Beneath the lies

Of the dark

Leaving marks

Sparks

She

Has been steeled

Standing there looking so tight

Taut and high-heeled

One

Of a kind

The kind of a girl

That only a dream

Could design

Time

Seen through glasses of wine

Never reveals

The why or the when

How this story will end

As you find

That deep in her eyes

Beneath the lies

Of the dark

Leaving marks

Sparks

Come on

Conjure up a reason for living

Take me round

And around

And around

And around

And again

Come on

Do it in the name of living

For if not tonight

Tell me when

For if not tonight

Tell me when

Ahhhhh

Hearts

Can confuse

That messed up bundle of nerves

That tends to bruise

Still

Lay it bare

It's better to bleed than to need

And never have dared

Chance

A move based on a glance

A move based on no more than feel

In this unreal circumstance

For deep in her eyes

Beneath the lies of the dark

Leaving marks

Sparks

- CD

ETA: On second thought, don't do this. The mere concept of those two together fills me with terror.

Fortunatly or Ill, he HASNT met her yet (on screen anyway) so he cant till he does unless Bob is gonna say it happened between scenes so to speak.

Though I'd argue that it would be dynamic enough of a story that it should happen on screen though it wont any time soon as that would violate several of Bob's basic operational criteria. (They just won ANOTHER Hugo. I'd say that qualifies as an Active Franchise!)

And neither of Fenspace's Agathas were around when Doug passed through, either...

Though I'm glad that his notion of her won't be informed by R. Agatha Clay. That is a scary lady.

Doesn't Doug have at least one sim song for a character he only knows as fiction? I thought he did.... maybe it was just "The Laughing Gnome" and I got confused...

- CD

ETA: Looking a little higher up the board... the Arsenal thread lists several songs which conjure a unique, fictional character: Ballad Of The Blue Cyclone, Frosty The Snowman, Mr. Pinstripe Suit, and Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, along with a few more like The Laughing Gome that summon up a number of archetypical figures like members of a marching band, soldiers, or garden gnomes. So it could work either way, is all I'm saying, and I am if anything even more filled with fear at the notion of an Agatha who, discovering that she's the image of a fictional character, devotes her six minutes of existence to building something to stay around longer...

--- Say, what does Doug's metagift think of Paul's Soundstretch Extreme? Granted, it can only keep a recogniseable lyric line at fairly minor levels of expannsoin rather than the days-long versions the program is capable of turning a typical music file into, but some utility effects would benefit from being just a little longer. Probably doesn't work, since it's sort of cheating, or else has a modified effect like a cover of the song, but it was just a question that occurred to me.

Depending on when he aquires the song she might try to download her self onto Eimi's hard-drive.

Which could be rather awkward, since Noah's beta-version of R. Agatha Clay is already on Eimi's hard drive. (Or, at least, she was when Eimi left Fenspace. Who knows when or if Eimi and Doug might have built bodies for Agatha and the other nine personality sims Eimi was carrying?)

What is it about the terrifying that fascinates humans so? Regardless, I have a further suggestion: If Sim Agatha goes to the mad place, she takes Doug with her, Team Synchronized Sparking style. Double the crazy, double the fun!

You know, Rob, it would be nice if you would tell me these things so I can account for them somehow. (Seriously, I'm pretty sure that's not in the notes you gave me on Eimi.)

I would have sworn I said something about the personality sims being on Eimi's hard drive, and her occasionally using them to simulate a full staff for Noah before the others woke up...

Edit: Yes, it's in her FenWiki entry.

Oky, mea culpa, then, for either forgetting or never checking. My apologies.
