Has anyone else noticed...
12-12-2010, 03:46 AM
...that all Nanoha DVDs appear to have vanished completely from the marketplace? I've been trying to get a box set of A's for a little girl of our acquaintance but no one has it (or the first season) any more. Everywhere I go, brick-and-mortar or online, it's out of stock and no one knows when they'll get any more in. And Funimation has taken it off the list of their shows on their website. Was the licensing yanked or something?

This isn't quite what you were looking for (and probably costs more than you were willing to spend), but the Japanese release of the Nanoha movie has English subtitles. http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=KIBA-91822]The DVD requires an all-region DVD player, but http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=KIXA-90073]the Blu-Ray is region-free. (And, should you be lucky enough to get them, the "First Press" bonuses are lovely.)

It looks like they don't have A's (either on special or at full price), alas.
I'll be visiting the local brick-and-mortar store Sunday; I'll see whether they still have A's.

"everything on this list will be on sale until 11:59 p.m. CST on December 13th."
*until*? December 13? That doesn't seem right...

RightStuf seems to be the only one claiming to have the first season in stock. Everyone else has it on backorder. Doesn't help me -- as I noted above, I wanted season two, Nanoha A's. And that can't be found for love or money.

Amazon's also claiming that they have Lyrical Nanoha ( http://www.amazon.com/Lyr...8&qid=1292141455&sr=1-1) in stock. I've been looking locally and nothing Nanoha been released on DVD, the odd manga maybe.
As to the movie, I've ordered the regular edition for I didn't want to drop AUD$80 on something I might meh at. Hmm must continue to keep an eye out for a Macross Frontier box set and contemplate a Blu-ray player...

Well, Animenation http://www.animenation.com/gn-08557.html]claims to have A's in stock as well. Or at least if they don't they're normally good enough to tell you soon afterwards in my experience.

So, I'm guessing the sites I linked over in the Marketplace subforum didn't pan out? Sorry about that.

Sorry, no, Jorlem. They were either out of stock when I got to the checkout, or (in one or two cases) outside our budget.
Rob, email me with numbers, okay?

If anyone should spot a reputable place with A's at a non heart attack inducing price can you let me know too? Looks like I'll have to add this to my shortlist of things I keep an eye out for at the local used bookstore's anime section (so far I've picked up three of the Cardcaptor Sakura dvds there).

Also in the spirit of this thread, has anyone come across the last two volumes of the Sakura Taisen manga in english. The only thing I've come across related to it is that Kodansha yanked a number of the titles they let Tokyopop release two years back and since then - nothing!
I hope it doesn't turn into a 'Tough! You'll better learn to read Japanese' situation like with the Patlabor manga, of which I've acquired two tankobans and attempt an occasional transcription & translation of. Still what I've got appears to match in with the anime, just with a higher art budget.

Rod, I checked BakaBT (favorite anime/manga torrent site - should check it out if you get the chance) and they don't have either of those. Sorry.

I got my hands on the following Patlabor non-english manga, of which I'll give their ISBNs: 4-09-124722-9 (vol 2) & 4-09-124723-7 (vol 3) which leaves 8-9 volumes in that format to add to my collection that I could possibly get from amazon.co.jp (once I can understand it) along with the last volumes of Sakura Taisen.
Still leaves me with the problem of reading 'em, cos I'm not aware of any body scanlating them.
I've a similar problem with Sakura Taisen 2 - no english walkthru.

I have both the Nanoha and Nanoha A's fansub burnt to a DVD. Not the high res version though. Although a quick check on usniff.com torrent search engine shows various fansubs as available for download via different torrrent sites.

If someone happens to run across a copy of Full Metal Panic: Into the Blue for a reasonable price, could you let me know? That book seems to have gone to wherever the A's dvds went to, and the fourth book comes out soon. Its rather frustrating.
