Spiderman... are there any GOOD fanfics out there?
Spiderman... are there any GOOD fanfics out there?

You'd think this one would be easy, but oh my god no. I've been having very poor luck at finding anything engrossing (or anything other then teenage
angstfests!) to read, and given the success of my previous Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muyo, ect. fic search requests, and given the the huge variety of experience
and depth of knowledge of the subject of fanfiction here, I was hoping for some more suggestions? What in your opinion are the best (or at least GOOD)
Spiderman stories out there? Any universe or continuity is up for grabs.

Just a Face on a Train

After rescuing a train from Doc Ock's attack, Peter Parker found himself unmasked and indebted to those he had just saved. 4 months later, a train
passenger again crosses paths with the young hero. Based on events from SpiderMan 2.

Seconding what DreadnaughtVV recommended. That is an excellent piece.

Unfortunately, I can't really think of any other good Spider-Man stuff.

I recommend http://forgotten.faithweb.com/MaxLandis/legit00.htm]'The Shocker: Legit', but it's not really a Spider-Man piece as such. It's about Spider-Man characters, but not Spidey himself - the webslinger does appear, but isn't really favourably portrayed. The protagonist is Herman Schultz, 'The Shocker', and the main characters are mostly second-string villains and such from Spidey's supporting cast.

I think it's a really good look at a minor Spidey villain who's had enough and is going straight, damnit. It's got a lot of action, very interesting alternate perspectives on the Marvel universe, and a fair bit of dark humour. But the piece could be a bit too over the top and mildly sue-ish, depending on your tastes. It's also quite violent, so your milage may vary.

The fic used to be on fanfiction.net, but was apparently pulled by the writer after Marvel expressed interest in the concept. What I've linked is a (probably unauthorised) mirror which seems to have the complete fic and epilogue.

Thirding "Just A Face On A Train". I opened it up, intending to save it to text for later reading, and blew through it instead. Wow.

Recced it on TV Tropes. Funny coincidence -- last night, my anime club showed the first episode of the tokusatsu series. So weird watching Spidey drive the Mach Five and pilot the Megazord's ancestor.

Pronounced "shy guy."

A couple of crossovers of Peter & MJ with Lois & Clark

Robert Culpepper has written a couple of Spiderman cross overs with Lois and Clark. Spiderman has to share the spotlight with superman, but it isn't to
bad. http://www.lcfanfic.com/author_c.htm#CulpepperRobert
