I maintain that the bit is still worth precisely what has been paid for it.

Snrk.... I spent 2 hours digging through AFBGC archives looking for it and failed. Drat.

Well, contribution tax.

Shinji, Asuka, Rei and Misato are waiting at a rebuilt Japanese temple while certain things are accomplished by NERV in the background. the couple who live there are happily entertaining the little hero children and their guardian.

"That's great apple pie," Misato mumbled, mouth still full.

"Thanks," smiled Belldandy. "I made it from scratch."

We've secretly replaced Freddie Mercury with Sailor Mercury. Let's see if Doug's music collection notices.

For some reason that makes me want to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show, were Usagi is on her Honeymoon and gets lost... and Rocky goes crazy bit a direct result of Pluto being vindictive as the Time Warp makes them come back after a month long trip an hour after the left.

I'll just drop this here G1 My Little Pony crossed with anything. All though the new series looks like it has epic-potential, when matched with a completely different soundtrack. And I'm dreading the inevitable Rule #34 material that will be produced. Rule #34 'mon was bad enough.

We've secretly replaced Sailor Pluto with Disney's Pluto - but we left the time powers intact.

We've secretly replaced Douglas Sangnoir with Doug McKenzie.

We've secretly replaced Quincy, Lord Genom, with Lordgenome, the Spiral King.

We've secretly replaced the female leads from Bubblegum Crisis with the female leads from Real Housewives of Jersey City.

We've secretly replaced the core cast of Gurren Lagann with the core cast of Ranmna 1/2.

Let's see what happens.

I can't recall, has anyone suggested switching Shinji from NGE and Nicholas Seafort from The Seafort Saga (Midshipman's Hope, Challenger's Hope, the books in which you start wondering why the author cruelly sticks "Hope" in the title other than perhaps the hope that it means Nicholas finally slipped on a banana and was run over by a train saving the world from his brain numbing angst. Bitter? Me? Well, yes.)
First off, whoever has suggested it (including me) needs a slap up the back of the head. But with that out of the way...
What does Gendo do when Angst-Boy Shinji is replaced with You-Call-That-Angst-THIS-Is-Angst-Boy Nicholas, whose only dream is to have the chance to die in the line of duty since suicide is a sin and having sinned once already is doomed and unforgivable, so he doesn't dare sin a second time lest he be-- er-- unforgivabler?
What do Nicholas's companions do when he's suddenly a mopey teenager miraculously cured of his angst. "No, really kid. Delusional maybe, depressed perhaps, but this isn't agnst. Your old, woe is me, I can never be forgiven no matter how much good I do? Yeah, that was angst."
Seriously though. Cross them Quantum Leap style such that each side physically sees the same person as before. Suddenly in Neon Genesis Evangelion you have someone who upon learning what is being done will be quite willing to die to stop it (indeed, would probably be grateful if he's killed in the process).
While Nicholas's companions will probably think he's suffered some kind of mental break. "Knew that guilt was too much! We tried to tell him his actions were completely understandable and entirely right given the situation, but no, he has to go and develop a Dissociative Disorder". Assuming the ones who suggest curing it by throwing him back into hands on work win the argument, Shinji suddenly finds himself in a world where not every one around him is a mental cripple and he can actually do some good.
However, despite just saying how it could potentially be interesting, it's a Crossover that Should! Not! Be! Seafort levels of angst are probably enough to start an Impact Event on their own before the story can even start...
(Me? Bitter about spending the time reading the books hoping Nicholas would stop being whiny enough to make Shinji look stable? Like I said above, I have no idea what you mea-- er yes, guilty as charged. The guy should have just ended it with book one and started a new series. That or pulled the angst stick out of Nicholas's... Er. Yeah. Ending post now...)

It just clicked for me that if the Angels were created during Second Impact, then they really are teenagers. Why did I never notice that before?

I remember, back in the day, reading the first chapter of a My Little Pony / Ranma 1/2 crossover. No, I don't remember details - the mind really does block out painful memories.
