Crossovers That Should Not Be: Addition Wars

"So, are you an alien, an esper, or a time traveler?"

"Do I have to choose? Because I'm all three, actually."

"All right! You can be the adviser for the SOS-dan, mister..."

"Just call me Doctor."

I'm not an expert or anything, but isn't cousin IT a spark?  I swear that was his day job.  Gomez is the Caln head... as for the family sparks that choose SCIENCE!!! over magical tom foolery, who do you think is running Gomex's companies?
Cousin Itt is actually the poet of the family, given to long nights in coffee bars in the Village, reading Kerouac and writing poetry. He's very hip, or at least he was in the 60s.
That's right, he's a long-haired Bohemian.
(Uncle Fester is actually the Mad Scientist.)

"The Fourth Wall of Haruhi Suzumiya."No, I didn't go there -- she came here.

OR:

"Haruhi Suzumiya Evangelion"
Fifteen years ago, a shadowy conspriacy attempted to seize the powers of a weakly godlike entity... and botched the job, bringing about a partial extinction event in the process.
Today, the secretive organization whose official purpose is to complete the seizure is in fact lead by a man whose true purpose is something completely different.  But in the meantime, he must:
1. Protect humanity from the monstrous creatures summoned by the delerious smi-comatose godling's subconcious, desperately seeking freedom.
2. Maintain his own precarious position without falling into the grasp of, or being removed by, any of the multiple agencies maneuvering around his prisoner with their own conflicting agendas.
3. Figure out how to save the girl he can now admit he loves from the terrible, inhuman thing that she has become.
4. Figure out how to keep his friends (and only allies) from getting killed in the process.

Starring:
Yuki as Rei
Koizumi as Kaji
Asahina as Ritsuko
Kyon as Gendo (no, really)
The closed-space giants (whose name I can't recall) as the Angels.
Tsuruya as Misato?
Haruhi as Lilith (and maybe as EVA-01?)
And the IDSE, Esper Organiztion, and Time Travel Authority as parts of the SEELE-equivalent conspiracy -- a three-cornered Mexican standoff.  Or is it three-cornered...?

Don't really see a role for a Shinji character, since (if I were writing this), I would drop the Mother-issues and child-abandonment plot threads (Kyon wouldn't do that).  Although I wouldn't rule out a pre-Impact Haruhi/Kyon offspring entirely....

The way I envision this one, NERV really are the good guys, but they're gambling that they can save the world and the girl, as opposed to the lower-risk options favored by the SEELE triumvirate of either killing Haruhi off, or completing the removal of her powers (which probably wouldn't leave much if anything of her anyway).  And then there's the question (which is a big part of what gives Kyon his maneuvering room): Which member of the SEELE triumvirate was the party that triggered the Impact fifteen years ago?  Or, more disturbing... was it someone else entirely?
So:  Kyon's obsessed with getting Haruhi back, to the point of recklessness but not complete sociopathy, unlike Gendo.  The rest of the SOS-brigade (now a tiny conspiracy inside of NERV) is following him and playing double-agent even though they're afraid he might be losing it --and more afraid that he will lose it if they don't stand beside him-- because Kyon's their friend, and Haruhi was, and Kyon's the only person they can be certain wasn't in on what happened fifteen years ago.  Kyon trusts them all, and they trust each other... mostly.  But we still get the claustrophobic paranoia and conspiracy atmosphere of Original Evangelion, just without most of the nihilistic despairing suicidal overtones.

...are you sure that's "should not be"?

I think its the lack of Evas thing that makes it should not be... its the whole lack of details and source conflict issues that 'Should not be' this thing... as it is now its rather hard to fix it.  There is just too much missing to do something with.  Its the nebulousness that hampers it.  The extinction events is made of 'um what?'  If we fill in the root details that are causing issues its recoverable.
For instance:  If some guys drugged her into a psychedelic stupor and she heard accents of Russian-Chinese-Indian , The extinction event could be that closed space giant are ever rampaging in the area or those countries had large chunks of the population swallowed into closed space.  Either way NERV (or whatever) is actively hunting down loose CSGs and Haruhi is drugged up to keep whatever they did in the failed capture incident screwed her up bad enough that she has to be sedated or bad things happen.
So basically this is a 'Should not be' by lack of coherence rather than the idea itself being worthless.

Yes I could guess that... but considering the title and how "with everyone playing the fox".. and me never have seen any animal motifs involved with anything to do with City of Heroes or a fox in Spice and Wolf...  where does the all important fox come in?  There must be a third one involved for said fox to be all people play as.

It's a companion of the infamous D&D module, 'Tomb of Whores'. Can the party get through the labyrinth infested with undead andstrangely appealing hookers, succubi, horny mummies, and hot and bothered ghosts?
Also:
The Melancholy of Kitsu Chiri. Watch as the shovel wielding goddess tries to create a more orderly world, while the members of her Supreme Orderd Society Brigade– illegal reality-warping alien Maria, annoyingly eternally perky esper Kafuka, busty time-traveler Kimura Kaede and poor token unpowered person Tsunetsuki Matoi (Nami was rejected as being too normal to be the token normal person)– try to keep her from destroying the world that week.

On that note, I think it's time for a new CTSNB thread... (and not just because we're closely approaching 300 posts in this one).
