For obvious reasons there are a number of fics being written about Twilight adjusting to her new life after the season 3 finale.  My favorite so far is Just an Everyday Princess.  Twilight goes back to ponyville to try to get back to normal, but she now has a permanent guard detachment and entourage.  Specifically, the four guards and four hoofmaidens who came in with her at the coronation.  Only a prologue and 2 chapters so far, but it is shaping up nicely with excellent humor built around the following elements:
1) Twilight hasn't changed at all and is trying to go back to her old life.
2) Twilight has to adjust to these extra 8 ponies who want to be at her side protecting her and doing things for her all the time.
3) The new bunch from Canterlot has to adjust to their unconventional princess and how inherently crazy the mane 6 and the rest of ponyville are.

I've never followed the actual show (fan of the fanwork), so the only thing I knew about the season 3 finale was that it induced table-flipping rage in some people and many others simply don't acknowledge its existence. Now I know why. What the hell, Hasbro?! There are plenty of very good Alicorn-Twilight fanfics, but it's inevitably a massively disruptive event. That is the end of the show as we know it, and I will be very surprised if what follows measures up to its predecessor. (Not saying it's impossible, but I don't particularly trust Hasbro and the production team to succeed.)

Hasbro, no. The team however... they polished the turd of "OMG WE NEED PINK PRINCESS FOR ROYAL WEDDING!" into something acceptable, and even made the "bland" prince involved more acceptable via membership in the Royal "wiflemen" corps and "liquid pride."

Let me reframe that: I don't particularly trust Hasbro to let the team succeed. Twilight's exaltation should raise an immense number of status-quo-altering issues. What are her new rights and responsibilities? How is her magic affected? What's the impact on the political sphere? What about the broader magical ecology? Pony government, how does it work?
I don't mind such things being restricted to 'B' plots, but I'm afraid of Hasbro stifling them entirely in favor of "Status Quo is God". (Not that I'm worried for my own sake. As I said, I'm a fan-of-fandom. I'm just worried that seeing this poorly handled might drive away creative fans.)

Some of this was discussed at a con panel with some of the show writers yesterday actually.? Some of the relevant responses (taken from the EqD summary):

• The Season 3 finale was originally written in November 2011.
  Twilicorn was a while in coming, folks. plus, the writers knew they
  wanted to make it a musical fairly early on.
  
• The Season 4 opener will focus on Twilight's fears and questions after becoming a princess.
  
• Hasbro isn't soulless. Meghan feels the stories she and the
  writers want to tell are the ones that get told despite what others
  believe, and the studio Hasbro built up has animators and other folks
  who care about making a good TV show in its executive positions. M.A.
  went out of his way to point out that dealing with the highers-up isn't a
  black/white process, but has nuances. At the end of the day, Friendship is Magic?is
  there to advertise toys of brightly colored ponies, but the writers are
  pretty happy with how much control they have over their episodes.
  

So, I don't think you have to worry that much.

Also, The Sweetie Chronicles has updated.? If you aren't familiar with it, it is the story of a Sweetie Belle who was thrown out of her home universe by a magical accident, and has been jumping through fanfic after fanfic, trying to find her way home.
