I've just started part 1 of the Champions, batzulger, and there are a lot of typos, at least one of which makes the sentence it's in rather garbled

She read off the number of Roxton. John Lanscombe to the voice on the phone, adding the additional six digits he had recited.

Damn it, Champions reminds me of something I saw long, long ago (which is no doubt your source, B), but I can't remember the name -- 60s or so vintage (British?) TV series about several people who crash land in the Himalayas and come out of the mountains with psychic powers. I can't remember if it was implied or specified that they were rescued and taught by the inhabitants of Shangri-la, but that's the impression that has stayed with me through the years.
