And it's pretty good.

My brother found an interesting Harry Potter fic and I had to take a look for myself. Why?

Because it deconstructs the idea of soul bonds using a Harry-Ginny pairing. And it does it very well! (Let's put it this way - just because you can read the other person's mind doesn't mean you have automatic understanding!)

Best of all, there's no character bashing. Even Macnair, the executioner, gets some excellent development. My only complaint is that Madame Maxime is all but absent, and Voldemort's madness has been... slightly tweaked. Oh, and automatic spell-checker errors abound! And it's slow to update. Sad

Otherwise, there's a lot of hilarity to be had, and it stayed interesting all the way through. Smile

Path of the Ninja: Iruka Edition, a Naruto oneshot by the author of Dreaming of Sunshine. Iruka discovers his life has somehow turned into a video game. Two problems - 1). He has no idea what a video game is. 2). He wasn't supposed to be the PC, so all the NPCs are reacting as if he were someone else.

Empty Graves, recommended above, is now part of a whole series with a common continuity.

I particularly recommend the most recent addition Unpaid Internship:

No, I don't believe the world has gone mad.  In order for it to go mad it would need to have been sane at some point.

Seconded!"Keep telling yourself that," Batman said. A crayon hit him in the
shoulder. "Maria, I appreciate your candor, but now is not the time."EDIT: And another from Unpretty! Still in progress this time. Third Wheel

The @BruceWayne Twitter one is hilarious. Does he have @DarKnight one or @BatMan one i wonder...

Unpretty has put up part six of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Hearts series in which Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle meet for the first times.

After reading the stuff about his mother, it's no small wonder he finds Selina attractive.

On Twisting the Hellmouth, Rich has an interesting set of character studies giving the thoughts and view points on Captain America: Civil War from different characters.

We have an interview with Black Widow

And then a set of internal, stream-of-consciousness stuff from various viewpoints.

I wouldn't usually recommend one of my own fics, but Wearing Robert's Crown is apparently the fourth most favourited story in the FF.Net ASOIAF category (8th if Game of Thrones category is factored in) so apparently I'm doing something right.

Wait, what? It hasn't been recc'd here? I could have sworn it had been, I've been following it since it started!

Well this thread is older than the fic and I don't see it.

I'll admit, the story starts a bit roughly. It's one of those 'wrong boy who lived' stories, except it's start is very stereotypical of the genre as it seems that Harry is mistreated for the sake of mistreated so that he's got justification to be something of an arse. But... it doesn't stay that way for too long. I haven't gone through the whole story yet as it's a whopping 400k words (I'm about half way through). But it starts to slowly become apparent that there's a lot of different external forces at work and everyone has a legitimate motivation for doing what they're doing beyond self absorption and ego (though there's a lot of that involved as well).

TLDR: It starts out roughly but it's a very entertaining ride as it continues on.

RWBY AU. Protagonist: Roman Torchwick.

In a world where Cinder Fall and Roman Torchwick never crossed paths before Ruby Rose entered their lives, Cinder's particular brand of terrorism is... Bad for Business.

Seconding that recommendation. While it uses one of the common fanfiction clichés as a starting point, it's a wild ride. The characters are multi-dimensional and there's plots all over. I'm nearly to the end of what is published, and I know I'll be sad when I actually hit the end.

Well, now... this looks verra, verra interestin', at least for the first full forum page, and even if it's not, strictly speaking, fanfic: http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads ... st-9395180

The Last Angel?

That's some really good science fiction. Depressing in many ways, but very good.

Seconded. I only got about halfway? through it before I had to put it down. Might go back to it now that my life is in a better place.

Thaumaturgic Awakening Worm/Fate crossover

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/11820074/1 ... -Awakening

Taylor meets and joins up with a different group on her first night out. So far, the Fate characters are both OP and an Outside Context Problem for the capes of Brockton Bay. However, the interesting aspect of this story isn't so much the fight scenes as the culture clash between the quasi-comicbook Worm characters and the dark modern fantasy Fate characters.

Not as bone-grindingly depressing as Worm.

I've been reading it on spacebattles and enjoying it, until the latest chapter, which has the fate characters do something wildly stupid and out of character. Hopefully the author will take note of the general reaction and rewrite it. Mind you, for real fun, I'd like to see the Prism Ilya characters, in the wards. Because of Glenn trying to deal with Chloe.
