Nanoha StrikerS
Deserted City
Quote:
Another possibility, I think it likely that the sections abandoned are connected to the disaster Nanoha and Fate rescued Subaru from - since that was obviously large scale and involved lost logia, there is firstly the possibility that sections of the city lost vital utilities (Water, heat, electricit etc..) for extended periods, and second that the possibility of those sections which connect to the utilities conduits of the destroyed area would be evacuated due to the possibility of lost-logia produced contimination.
I'm starting to wonder, myself, if the whole city isn't just deserted, with everyone living in the big tower at the center, instead. Has anyone worked out how tall that thing has got to be? We're talking mega-arcology scale here, probably a couple of dozen miles tall.--

Ep15
Babysitter Zafira *again.* I still keep half-expecting to see Vivio riding him like a pony (and I bet, big softie that he is, he'd secretly enjoy it).
Duelling Mommy policies... priceless.
"All you forwards against all the captains/lieutenants."
"...we're gonna die, aren't we?"
Ginga's expression at the proposed 5-on-4 fight: priceless.
The *end* of the 5-on-4, when only two of the four even bothered to armor up... Big Grin
Ginga-v-Subaru: just a *bit* intense, there. But not in bad way.
And Elio and Carol's reactions to the G/S fight were perfect. I had to pause the playback until I stopped snickering.
General Lardo appears to share some of my own doubts about a defense force built around people who are born with special abilities. If I weren't so sure that he's pursuing his goals via unethical means, I'd be inclined to agree with him...
....Okaaaay.... *someone's* been watching too much NGE. SELEE much, anybody?
The disturbing thing here is the implication that Lardo has serious political backing from within the non-TSAB portion of the government. I'm guessing that the "council" is the civilian government, but the tension implies that the TSAB, particularly the Fleet, is far more autonomous than we're accustomed to seeing in current-day military forces. Ground Forces seems to have a lot of autonomy from the Main Branch, which leads me to wonder if the Ground Forces might not have evolved out of the out planetary pre-TSAB military, while the Fleet and Main Branch were created new by the Three Admirals?
I wonder just how much overlap there is between Einherjar (an ominous name choice under the circumstances) and Doc Gadget's army of drones and killer non-loli cyborgs? I mean, this *can't* be pure coincidence.
And... I wonder if the "king" Nobe(Nove?) refers to has any connection to the king mentioned in Carim's prophecy?
Looks like Hayate's green-haired guy-pal may be getting into shark-infested waters.
Hayate's already acting like "Auntie Hayate" towards Vivio. Better be careful, Hayate-girl, or you'll get drafted for babysitting (then again, she can just pass the squirt off to Zafira...).
Poor Rein, being teased about her childishness as a "newborn." Too bad the Tome didn't record any baby pictures of Vita for counter-blackmail material.
Or *did* it....?
Elio... good *grief,* that's a huge salad. Someone teach this kid the value of a good medium-rare steak! Or at least make that salad a Cobb!

Re: Einherjar
Yikes! For those who aren't familiar with the Einherjar, as I wasn't, here is the wikipedia entry for Einherjar.
Warriors from those who die in battle? If I had to guess, I'd expect it to be a combat cyborg process. You could go with volunteers, or, you look for soldiers who have suffered grave injuries and make them an offer. "Your friends and family will have to think you died. But in return you get a body that is faster and stronger than when you were young. You will then join a unit of others who have accepted the same offer where you will become the toughest special forces unit in the entire Ground Forces."
Or, perhaps. "We need some volunteers. You, you, and you. You three just volunteered. Get in the tubes."

Silly skye, you can't draft your superior officer for, well anything really, not even babysitting. I could see Hayate doing it on her day off.
Hmm, I think Nanoha is the better mommy than Fate, Fate seems to be overcompensating for her own upbrining.
On that not I have something that puzzels me, Caro and Elio didn't seem to know each other before joining mobile division 6, but both where raise by fate. I wonder how that worked out?
E: "Did they... did they just endorse the combination of the JSDF and US Army by showing them as two lesbian lolicons moving in together and holding hands and talking about how 'intimate' they were?"

I was under that impression that Erio has been with Fate for some time while Caro is more recent (as of the beginning of the series). I'd check the first episode, but I'm in the middle of transferring all of my anime over to my new computer. Does anyone remember if they recognized each other in the airport/terminal/thing?*********

Drafting
Catty, Catty, Catty. You must still be jet-lagged from the flight in from Sigma Narses. There's *official* drafting, and there's friend/family drafting. Two very different things.
Then there's the "Vivio, go make Big Puppy Eyes at Auntie Hayate until she caves in and agrees to keep you for the weekend" drafting. Outlawed in nearly every civilized jurisdiction, but still openly practiced due to the inability of arresting officers to withstand the BPEs....
Yuuno sighed and covertly slipped a small fold of currency into Chrono's hand. "How did you *know*?"
Chrono pocketed the money under cover of a bland shrug. "I make a point of knowing the major weaknesses of all my subordinates."

Why that unholy smarmy... Someone needs to remove that frakking grin from laughing man's face. Preferably with one of those man (or combat android) portable over the shoulder anti-ship guns he's given to The Numbers.
I think he has officially entered the same category as Fate's mother. I can see some of the minions redeeming themselves. But satisfaction demands that laughing man suffer.
Or in other words I got tired of waiting for a subbed episode 17. I may not have known what words people were saying, but I could certainly catch the emotions and attitudes. I do believe we also got details on the pasts of two of the characters. Poor whatsisname the chopper pilot, now he'll be beating himself up for the event in the past and for letting it effect his current actions (at least I think that was the pilot).
(Or another way of putting it: hey Geneon, don't wait -- license now. I'll put down the cold hard cash when I see this available for pre-order)

Or, as I would prefer it: Don't license now, wait until I have all 26 episodes! Then license!

Re: Drafting
I want to see a collaboration between the Professor and Jail. Granted his methodology is slightly different but I think he'd agree more with Jail than with the current midchilda government.
Of course the Professor would publish his results and make them wildly available, which Jail doesn't seem to be doing.
That aside does anyone else think it was a bad idea on jails part to make all of section 6 take it so personally?

Re: Drafting
I think that's more of an indirect consequence. His objectives were A) demonstrate the power he has at his command to the Midchildan forces in general and B) recover the Vessel of the Saints, Vivio. It just so happened that Section Six got horrifically damaged because they were involved in both objectives. And he IS humane after a fashion; there was no loss of life that we could see. Then again I've only seen up to 17, so I could be wrong.*********

Oh I don't think he meat to piss of section 6, I merly suggested that he reonsider his objectives in light of that.

Looks like they're Sechsen it up a little!
Vivio's eyes still make me squee.
Chrono and Amy's twins seem to be older than I was expecting... and it's fairly poignant that Fate keeps a picture of Precia and Alicia on the same shelf.
How old is Vice supposed to be? 'Cause it certainly seems like something's being hinted at/built between him and Tea...
Am I the only one who think's it's distinctly questionable sense to disarm the heavy-hitter experts you've brought in to lend your security teeth?
*blinkblink* Midchildia Ground Forces, is it? That'd make the distinction of a separate coequal Headquarters branch make more sense, if the 'Ground Forces' are actually a number of different groups, each associated with a different member planet.
...the traditional organ theme is a nice touch.
BTW, why would Lutecia be wearing a limiter? She's not under political pressure, and not actually exerting herself actively so...
"Zest." Hee. ^_^
...Yeah, that's definitely Nakajima backstory I smell.
I preferred the first ending theme.

Despite the win, a bit of concern Siebsen
Are the Wolkenritter program enough to be reinstantiated if they get shut down? This looks like it might have direct bearing on the size of the smear mark left over once Hayate gets ahold of Swertkreuz and Rein-tan...
...or not. Owie. Graf Eisen should be easy enough to fix, at least comparatively speaking, but Reinforce is more troublesome...
Heh. It's good - and interesting - that Nanoha recognizes that there are some orders that just won't be obeyed.
*blinkblink* Hey, wait, Subaru and Ginga's being Type 0s means that the cyborg designation sequence didn't start at one... nice touch!
...I can't say that this is unexpected, really, but... "Uh-ohhhhhh...." ...poor Numbers.
Wait, it's a surfboard?! Cool!
Hm. New type of Array. Innnnteresting. ...And I think I put it that way because, for some reason, V reminds me of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist.
Hm. Ominous heartbeats? Not a good sign.
Bodycount... well, I guess we'll have to wait until next time to find that out. I'm probably a bad person for being more interested in Tea's reaction to finding out what Subaru is.

I'm fairly sure she knew. She did know enough to make illusions that fooled the androids amongst other mild hints during the show that Subaru was an android.
It's really no wonder I like Subaru, I do have a thing for blue haired psycho combat androids... somehow my subconscious must have pieced it together before episode 17.

The bit about Subaru (in white):
It seems that the only people who did not know Subaru was a cyborg were, in fact.. the viewers at home. Nice touch. Since everyone knows, it's simply not an issue that would come up in casual conversation.- Grumpy Uncle Gearhead

I like that although the Numbers won, they once again get shown that they're not nearly as bad ass as they think they are.
And now I'm going to have to rewatch the series to find those little hints, since I somehow completly missed them. As for the Knights, they're not dead/deleted, the prevue showed them recovering in the ICU. As for the good doctor, if I where him I would be busy building a machine to dig me a very deep hole to hide in, as he is now very very screwed.

One clue I can see for Subaru's nature is the way she eats ice cream. I think we can all agree that we all thought it shouldn't be possible to eat it that way and not get an headache when we saw her do it.
