I don't have a saved game. Honestly, I never got around to finishing the first game. One thing I do remember though - I cast a firebolt(?) spell at thebear in the cave - and crashed the game because I'd done something that the writers hadn't thought of. I'd quite like to see the first game again
as well. I've never played the second.

		*jaw drops*
Sierra's Quest for Glory, one of the older 'adventure games' (think Zork with graphics), was _the_ compelling reason for a lot of us to buy EGA
compliant hardware back in 'the day'.
http://en.w...pedia.org/w.../Category:Quest_for_Glory
http://www.agdinteractive...istory/about_history.html
related to, by gameplay, creator, and position on archival shelves, the King's Quest series. Again, think Zork, with Graphics.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King%27s_Quest
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Sierra_games
vs
http://en.w...pedia.org/w.../Category:Adventure_games
as for QfG 2 - it's the same old story, boy meets girl, under a silvery moon.. which then explodes for no apparent reason.

Sierra's brand of quirky humor are one of the telling points for the QfG and King's Quest series, as evidenced below by the titles for the King's
Quest games.

* King's Quest II: Romancing the Throne

* King's Quest III: To Heir Is Human

* King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella

* King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder!

* King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow

* King's Quest: Quest for the Crown

*nostalgic sigh*

I'll look into availability of these over the next few days - I think the whole shmear for either or both series should be easily available. And they are
VERY worth playing.

Quest for Glory is a series of adventure games from Sierra, very similar to King's Quest, Space Quest, and Police Quest (the original name for QfG1 was
Hero's Quest, which is the version I have). Like the KQ games, people really liked them, so fans have been working on recreating them for modern computers.

Bob, the QfG series was republished in disc format in '96 and '97 I believe. However, its going to be very hard to find those discs and Sierra hasstated that its not republishing any of its old games anymore, iirc...

http://www.lysator.liu.se.../Sierra_On-Line,_Inc.html
really good site with listings of the various games.

since I can't find any legitimate way to purchase QfG - here it is. 1-4 above, 5 below.
QFG 5 Torrent Link
and then there's a questionable little item - the whole Sierra Shmear.. gonna have to think on that one.

Hmm... I know I have V on disc, and I'm sure I've got archived copies of original 1-4 (and maybe remake 1) burned to CD somewhere around here...
And come to think of it, I never finished playing through V. Must fix that.

If there's interest, I'll post my findings on making these work under XP. (which should be directly applicable to Vista, I would hope)"No can brain today. Want cheezeburger." From NGE: Nobody Dies, by Gregg Landsman

I never got to play the Quest for Glory games, or most of the other Adventure game greats, Just a couple of the King's Quest games and one of the MonkeyIslands, so I'm very happy about this.

However, since this is a Sierra game, does that mean we get to deal with the Sierra
 Screw?

It's nowhere near as bad as King's Quest in that regard. You might wind up without the full complement of points, but unless you start throwing stuffaway, you should be able to win if you keep in shape (it's a skill-based practice-improvement game, so try to spend all your spare time building up
 something or other).

...also, the Coles are just plain far better writers than Roberta Williams.

The first game in the series was originally titled "Hero's Quest I: So You Want to Be a Hero." Unfortunately, Sierra and the Coles had neglectedto check for similar names and (I think) Games Workshop made angry noises over the HeroQuest boardgame. So you might be familiar with it under the earlier
 title?

Anyway, if you really haven't played them, I suggest you give it a whirl. A five-part journey from correspondence-school novice to serious Hero, with
wacky hijinks, bad puns, thinly disguised classic comedy teams, High Love, True Adventure, and more Maltese Falcons than you can shake a .45 at. Gameplay is a
combination of the standard Sierra pointenclick with a class- and skill-based system in which you can be a Fighter (with Paladin option later), Wizard, or
Thief, or cross-train yourself in whatever combo you can afford.

Oh WOW. I remember slowly working my way through the first game when I was a LOT younger than now and I never managed to find this one.

Now I know what I'll be doing this evening.
