Yeah, I know how it feels. I'm trying to save up so I have enough of a nest egg to afford to move, and things keep on coming up every time I get about $1k
in the bank.

Well, it was fixed about 15 minutes after my original post. We were warm last night, fortunately. And fortunately, we do have a sizable emergency fund for just
this kind of thing. I just don't like it when they all coordinate their schedules so as to take up as little of my time as possible.

I had heard that as "trouble always comes in threes", but there's a strong Celtic tradition to the superstitions in my family. (Can't imagine why... )

Here's hoping you don't have a third problem to worry about, Bob; that would really ruin Christmas for you this year.

Mrrr. I'll take your third slot, Bob: I just found two of my Dresden Files compilations in the garage. With mold growing on them. Sad

Actually, my third slot was in fact taken -- I just had kind of forgotten it at the time. A sixty-inch water main broke about five miles from where I live yesterday, putting us and about 100,000 other households under a boil-water alert.

I left home this morning at 7:15 for my expected 35-minute commute. Got to work at 8:30.

Norway, are you implying the break delayed you, and that you are in our area?

I have the car back. It is green, it is in one piece, it stinks of paint. The boil water alert was lifted last night. And so far the furnace has stayed fixed.
All in all, my week is ending a bit better than it started. Now if I could only shake this headache...
