Holiday Loot Thread!
12-26-2009, 01:09 AM
I'm going to spend more text on what I _gave_ vs. what I got, and that's fine!
http://www.maverickarms.com/pages/88security.htm
showed up under the tree for me, I'm VERY pleased.
I gave a Craftsman 3-piece toolbox (rolly bit, intermediate box, top bit), 200 rds. of .380 acp, various gift cards ($500@lowes, 2ea @$100 @ Game Stop, 2ea @
$75 @ best buy), a 7.1 channel surround processor (bastard got me a PS3. I'll show him!)
But the happiest thing I'm on the giving end of is..

_awesome_.
So what did you folks give and get?

I didn't get many things this Christmas, but what I got was good.
http://www.amazon.com/Vie...id=1261781846&sr=1-5
This, for starters.
I also got a PS2 controller (you know yours is busted when the bits rattling about inside prevent you from hitting buttons), and some games.
http://www.amazon.com/hac...id=1261781942&sr=8-3
http://www.amazon.com/hac...id=1261781942&sr=8-2
http://www.amazon.com/Sta...id=1261781999&sr=1-1
The last bits were the obligatory candy (chocolate bars/oranges/M&Ms), a B&N giftcard, and $140.

I got some cash, a specimen set of the 1999 commerative "Millennium" quarters released by the Canadian Mint, a couple of jazz collections (one each of music by Harry James and Herb Alpert), the two Borribles books I didn't already own, and ... a 32"x24" print of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_ ... f_Kanagawa]The Great Wave off Kanagawa!
(Oh, and a copy of Hyperion. Now I get to find out why Nagato-san thinks it's "unique".)
A rather eclectic collection of loot, but that's normal for my family.

I scored a new vinyl player, receiver and speaker set as well as mint pressings of Genesis' albums from 1970 to 1975 (Trespass, Nursery
Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway) on 180-gram vinyl. SO awesome.

Ah, yes: I spent some of my Xmas cash today on a short stack of CDs, including Listen to the Banned: 20 Risqué Songs of the 20s & 30s. I don't expect to hear any "power" songs for Doug on that one, but one never knows...

I think it's a mark of maturity that the 'needed clothing' gifts are _appreciated_ and _desired_ in my peer group.
(I have never seen someone as overjoyed to see a plethora of socks as I did this holiday season)

Never said the clothes weren't appreciated. ^_^
Birthday and Christmas presents from my parents are, in fact, my primary sources of new clothes.
