Lately I've been keeping an eye on the Avatar section of the movies category on ff.net and my patience has paid off.
This fic is a magnificent little piece of drama about a young woman, shy and somewhat insecure, who arrives on Pandora as yet another scientist. Later after reading Jake Sully's log entries she learns to look past her fear and see the beauty of the world around her, thus starting her on a path of change that is utterly believable. One problem there. Hasn't it been established that Haruhi being God is only a worst-case scenario?

Presumably in the two years that have passed by the time of the story, they have determined that they are, in fact, in the worst-case scenario.

Doesn't read like that to me, especially because I don't even know how they WOULD'VE proven that. Looks more like the author just took the fanon at
face value. Pronounced "shy guy." 
Or keeping Haruhi from snapping and unmaking reality finally got to be too much.
You say "just took the fanon at face value.", and I will say "just took the fanon and ran with it".
