I'm not going to San Antonio...I'm going to Birmingham, Alabama.

Is that for an interview, or are congratulations in order?

More for congratulations..same organization, different area...and better pay. It was a good kind of problem figuring out which offer to accept. Actually had to draw up a comparison table. I had to change my moving plans to reflect the longer distance for the move. Check out everything I don't need. Store the rest in a smaller space and drive to Birmingham. Fly back at a later time when I have an apartment and rent a U-haul truck for the long trip back.

No, never got an email message. (thinking you might have meant PM on this board, I didn't get one of those either) Have fun in Alabama. I spent a year working in Muscle Shoals one summer during college. I don't think I've ever seen so much red clay in my life - it got into *everything*. No idea if the whole state is that way, though (B-ham is a lot further south and MS is) Jeanne Hedge www.jhedge.com "Believe me, if I have to go the rest of my life without companionship, knowing myself won't be a problem." -- Gabrielle of Potadeia
Bob - did you find that volunteer job to do and put on your resume?
For that matter, with school starting, have you thought about doing some substitute teaching? I doubt it'll pay much, but it'll definitely get you out and around, and will provide some concrete examples of your flexibility to put on that resume too. Sub teaching isn't just babysitting any more, the schools can't afford for it to be. I did everything from kindergarten assistant to junior high math, to shop, to conducting the band, to special ed - and pretty much everything in between. There are several places for OSHA training, but the main one is the OSHA Training Institute in Arlington Heights, IL (a Chicago suburb). Nearly every OSHA agency (fed and state) send their people there. Very occasionally there will be an outsider, but that's kind of unusual. Most of the classes are of the 1 or 2 week variety (class starts on Tuesday, runs thru Friday), but there are shorter ones. I've never heard of one particular class running longer than 2 weeks. It's a nice place, with several hotels and decent places to eat in the area. Of most interest to the crowd on this board is Mitsuwa Marketplace, across the street and on the corner from OTI. That's a Japanese shopping center (used to be Yaohan Plaza). Grocery store, book store, food court, video rental place, several small shops... I was last there during ACen in May (it's almost a prerequisite for ACen attendees to get over there), and IIRC the liquor store is still there too (they sell good sake, but I wasn't in the market at the time). I used to like to take unsuspecting newbies to the fish/meat cases in the grocery and watch them freak out Don't know when I'll get the chance to go back - we haven't been able to go for 2 years now because of budget cuts. Well, since I'm Fed and a new hire should not be a problem.

Luck?..that's a bit dicier. My luck tends to turn from awfully great to awfully dismal? I can let you have a bit of it since I'm on a roll right now. __________________ Into terror!, Into valour!
