A Harry Potter oneshot.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5998729/1
I can't think of a decent way to describe this without spoilers, so here's the author's synopsis:
"An adult Harry finds his destiny as an independent curse breaker in Egypt."
It's much better than it sounds.

Stand between the Silver Crystal and the Golden Sea.
"Youngsters these days just have no appreciation for the magnificence of the legendary cucumber."  --Krityan Elder, Tales of Vesperia.

I don't typically post in these threads, so forgive me if these have been recommended before. Here's a couple of relatively short (but multi-chapter) stories I've come across recently. Both are complete.
You Know My Name: A Tale of Gotham Nights (Batman)
You Know My Name is an AU take on the hunt for the Red Hood, a member of the Bat family that's seemingly back from the dead. Told from the point of view of Tim Drake. There's a twist, though. Granted, it's a pretty obvious twist if you pay attention. But the point here isn't the surprise, it's the execution. This story has a great exploration of underworld war between rival criminal factions, and an excellent take on Robin's thought processes. The ending's abrupt, but I think pretty satisfying. Link is to the fanfiction.net version, it's also been posted on the StarDestroyer.Net BBS.
Somebody to Love (Naruto)
Somebody to Love is by the author of Rogue Fox, an ongoing fic that's being tracked in the updates thread. Rogue Fox is one of those sprawling epic fanfics that ends up tripping over itself with too many ideas and elements. Somebody to Love is quite a different beast...it's a self-contained exploration of a single theme. An adult Naruto is an elite assassin and human weapon - and alone, for all his peer are dead, and those who aren't hate him. Until he meets...a girl. And falls in love. But let's be clear here - this is not a happy story. It's bittersweet at best, horrific at worst. Yet it's still a beautiful piece of writing. Chillingly beautiful. But beautiful all the same.

Preconceptions (BtVS, Xander gets amnesia. It's a lot more interesting than it sounds).

It's bitter-sweet, but worth it :)

Reminiscence, a Calvin & Hobbes fanfic
“We can never undo what we have done. We can never go back in time. We write history with our decisions and our actions. But we also write history with our responses to those actions. We can leave the pain and the damage in our wake, unattended, or we can do the work of acknowledging and fixing, to whatever extent possible, the harm that we have caused.”

ARRRRGH!
Times like this that I remember the crazed, yet oddly truthful words of an insane assasin-roid from Armitage The Third: "Human suffering is such a unique privilege."
And now I wonder if anyone's done a fic where Calvin and Susie discover, through Hobbes, that they have a lot more in common than they had ever thought possible.  Wink
You see, the real fun part about Susie is that she's got an incredible moxie that Calvin just can't achieve, but can rival with his own brand of epicness.  The two just have so much potential for playing off of each other (thought it helps that Bill Waterson, in the fine tradition of E.E. 'Doc' Smith, modeled Calvin somewhat after himself and Susie somewhat after his wife).  Makes me want to write a fic where they have a Real Adventure together....
I'll be over in a plotbunny thread.

Gregg Landsman, of Nobody Dies infamy, is redoing NGE: Walking in the Shadow of Dreams. Here's NGE: Walking in the Shadow of Dreams Ver 2.

so this was rec'ed on by someone I follow, and I had to pass it along.
Doctor Who/Young Wizards crossover, Donna Centric. Post Journey's End
The link goes to the LAST chapter, which has links to all the others.
Journey's Dawn
I haven't had the chance to watch DW, and I still loved this. Made me want to go find all my YW books and re-read them.

Some Industrial Light and Magic by canoncansodoff. A cute little Harry Potter short with some Star Wars influences. Post-Deathly Hallows but pre-Epilogue, probably an alternate universe, as it's HP/HR.

A Nanoha/Dresden crossover

This looks like it's going to be interesting.

Me likey. Now I need to actually go and finish the Dresden books.

Quote:But that was ridiculous, right? The White Council was the only (major) human representation in the supernatural world, right? And if there were others, I'd know, right?
Right?
*Evil Laugh* Harry Dresden, you poor, poor man. You are about to step into a *much* larger world. (^_^)

How far into Nanoha do the spoilers run? I've only just finished the fifth episode of A's.

Another Nanoha crossover, this time with Sailor Moon.
http://www.fanfiction.net..._White_Devil_of_the_Moon

The White Devil of the Moon.
It takes place a few years after A's, but before Strikers. Some of the details used are revealed partway through Strikers, because of the time skip. If you've seen Strikers, you can probably guess.
Edit:
Oh, and while I'm at it, here's a Ranma/AU!Nanoha fic.
http://www.fanfiction.net...al_BoyGirl_Martial_Ranma
No idea if Nanoha will even be in this, but Yuuno shows up in chapter two, and there's an alt TSAB (the STAB), so that's close enough for me.
