Indeed. Another reason to go to Berlin.

I feel I should start introducing myself as an extreme mutation of Ted Olsen.

I'm thinking someone should take the plaintiff of that case out around back of the courthouse and slap some sense into him and his lawyer. Assuming he has a lawyer.

If you check the linked article at Lowering the Bar you see the telling words "PRO SE". I can't imagine why he can't find a lawyer, what with all the Ted Olsons in the galaxy. Surely there must be an equal number of Linel Hutzs or Chris Jenkins.

I'm fairly certain that this case will be dismissed by the judge as a waste of the court's time. The sheer number of spurious, goofy, and just downright insane civil suits that get filed is astonishing, and many of them are just chucked by the judge or withdrawn by the plaintiff when they see how much money they're going to have to spend.

Heh. Reminds me of the squirt bottle of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lycopodium_powder]lycopodium powder I bought from a magicians' store way way back in the early 80s. (I must still have that around somewhere, I know I never used it up. Another reason to clean out the library...)

The reference concerning fire as a variety of oxidation reminded me of an Art Linkletter book citing somewhat odd answers kids gave on tests in school.  An illustration in the book showed a boy running away from a burning house, yelling, "Oxidation!"

Or, if you insist on a quote from the article itself:
"(Birds can fly in zero g—or, at least, they flap around in confusion. But, to be fair, that's how I'd react if I were abruptly and without warning yanked from my bed and tossed into the air in a zero g airplane cabin.)"

The following is the first sentence from a journal article on starling metabolism:

We trained two starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) to fly in a wind tunnel whilst wearing respirometry masks.

I really think the paper should have stopped there; no matter what their results were, they can't possibly improve on the achievement they opened with.

Heh. Did anyone click on the "Citation needed" for the sentence "But IMDb is more than just a fetish database"? It takes you to the IMDb page for an episode of an ESPN TV series called "Citation".
