If you become a monster to put down a monster you've still got a monster running around at the end of the day and have as such not really solved the whole monster problem at all.

This man's got some damn fine pipes and skills. Inspiring! Is there a Hugo or other music-centered award that he could be/should be honored with? The only thing that comes to my mind is the Rhysling Award for S/F Poetry. But that's obviously not the right category. I just mention it as an example of the type of thing I'm trying to think of.

David Bowie on his facebook page mentioned this as -
"It’s possibly the most poignant version of the song ever created "
And I have to agree with someone who replied - "this gives me some hope for our species, and I rarely feel that way anymore..."

And that's all the movie we really need to see. I foresee this part of the movie being what, the last half hour with the other 90 minutes being set-up?

Perhaps the http://www.ovff.org/pegasus.html]Pegasus Awards might have an appropriate category...?

Edit: Maybe "Best Classic Song" - Space Oddity has certainly entered the public consciousness...

Yeah, I noticed that, too, but I'm thinking it might be a deliberate style thing, harkening back to the way such things were made in the fifties.

Well, it is the sequel to "Streets of Fire" after all, which was an homage to those films.

Saw this trailer at Star Trek: Into Darkness
Okay - sure, it looks kinda ridiculously over-the-top and Johnny Depp at first glance is still playing "Captain Jack" except as an indian. But hell, I loved all the POC movies so far, may as well see what Bruckheimer and Verbinsky et al can do for The Lone Ranger, eh?

Actually made with the help of Brian May of Queen, and yes, that's Brian Blessed, too.  And there's a serious reason behind the silly video.

Very cool. Now how are they going to show that the vast majority of their player base acts like complete douchebags?

While this whole article is kind of cool, the last minute is what makes me post it. I know if I ever lose an arm, I want a steam-powered replacement. But can I get it in brass?

Yeaaaaah, while I play and enjoy the game, I stay the fuck away from the PvP, because I have yet to see a single game where PvP isn't a breading ground for trolls.

Yes, Lindsey Stirling has among her many videos a good number with game/SF/Fantasy subjects. She also has a CD available from Amazon and other outlets, and is currently on tour. I posted a couple weeks ago about the concert she gave in Montclair NJ that Peg and I saw...
