We've been getting lows in to low-20's here in San Antonio. While it makes up for some of the way-too-mild Winters we had the last few years (bug populations went totally out of control), that is still too damn cold for a place that is only supposed to get snow once every ten years or so.
PS: I park on a sloped driveway and my parking brake has been freezing up every night.  The only way to get it to let go is to violently rock my vehicle back and forth, and I don't think it's doing my drive train any favors having to do this every morning.  Preventatives?  It's a 5-Speed manual gearbox so sticking it in 'Park' isn't an option... and 1st gear doesn't always keep it from moving.

It's 8°F here now, with a high of 11°F forecast; both Peggy and I had the option to work from home today, and we took it. I haven't run the car since Sunday afternoon...

here in Windsor Ontario (just across the border from Detroit) it's currently-20, -34 with wind chill (and that's in Celsius)
Though it could be worse, there's a region east of Georgian Bay that's they are saying could get 25 to 50 cm of more snow (roughly 10 to 20 inches)

0 Fahrenheit here in Ypsilanti according to the AT&T page; the thermometer I've got in my study window (in the shade) says it's 6 (-18 Celsius).  Bright and sunny, though, and the streets don't look too bad.  I, too, will need to run the car a bit.

Oh, and AP reports it got so cold in Kentucky that an escaped convict turned himself in Sunday.

Wow, they look underdressed.
I mean, exposed faces in this kind of weather?

they are still in the house's wind shadow, plus it's hard to communicate with the goggles down and the scarves up.

I live just a few miles noth of Nashville, Tennessee (at least when I'm not up in college, anyway).  A few nights ago we had plenty of snow come through, and as I type this there's still a large snow cover!

Ranging from the mid 20s to the mid 40s in the Dallas area. I'd say we're getting off easy.

So! How about that global warming, eh?  Big Grin

I hear it's quite comparatively balmy in Siberia right now.

I know that even Florida tends to get cold snaps from time to time.  Heck, during last spring's cold snap even frikkin' Hawaii saw record or near-record cold!  Clearly, being relatively closer to the tropics than much of the rest of the U.S. is no guarantee that you won't see freezing temperatures from time to time...

Well, we broke freezing today... and we're headed for 50s by the weekend.

There's a lot of that going around... Currently in Ottawa, it's -12°C/11°F. The forecast for tomorrow is +7°C/45°F.

I'm told the trending hashtag is "#wintermission"...

As I type I'm in my office and the snow is already falling.  They're predicting 6 to 12 inches (16 to 32 cm) by this time tomorrow.

It's not going to be as bad for us on that front as it was last time -- "only" 10 degrees F.

Warmer temperatures here, but definitely more snow. It's very powdery here in Morgantown, and the street plows were behind schedule this morning. I was an hour late to work because I couldn't get out of my neighborhood. (My next car will have all-wheel drive. This I swear.)

They're letting us out in 20 minutes, to go work from home for the rest of the day. There appears to be an inch or so already on the ground, just in the last two hours...

The local preference for big shouty engines on four-wheel-drive platforms is more practical than machismo. An engine that'd be adequate anywhere else can't maintain speed on uphill gradients, and the four-wheel drive, well, as you're seeing.

I just arrived at Peg's mother's place fifteen minutes ago, after leaving work at noon; but I made a half-hour-long side trip to hit a convenience store on the way. Snow is easily 4 inches (10 cm) or so now.
