This seems to have been in the planning for a while, as a few queries about the (M7) build team were raised in the session of 'Behind the scenes' I was at and they were redirected to info that the main team has been slowly increasing the level of experienced in-house helpers. They also said that the next season of Mythbusters is going to be more cinematic in style.
That doesn't mean that they'll be left in the cold, Discovery's bound to have them host some other shows. Something bigger than Pumpkin chunkin' and special like: megashark. Return of Robotwars, perhaps?

The producers of the show have learned nothing from shows of the past: when you hit on a magical formula of cast, writing, and shooting style that proves extremely popular, DON'T SCREW WITH IT.
But then - this is Discovery after all. Dumbed down to the lowest possible common denominator on every single other show in their stable. Mythbusters was the only thing on that channel worth watching anymore. The suits there are genetically incapable of NOT screwing over good shows.
Ah well. It had a good long run of 11 seasons. Probably about time for them to wrap things up anyway. Just wish they'd be allowed to go out with dignity rather than the "Death of a Thousand Cuts" that Discovery is pulling on them.

Well, more cinematic probably means that they're using high end digital movie camera's and a pool of cinematographers to record and frame everything bar the stuff that'd better be done with one of the GoPro's from the 40 foot container load they have.

Well, geeze, that sucks. And now I'm wondering just how much of a hit in the ratings this will cause...
And is it just me or does Kari look just fantastic in that one photo in the article?
