I just thought found the comic and thought it was funny. I'm Canadian myself and I know we have several warships and subs.

Not as funny as the fact that Canada has a strategic maple syrup reserve. It's more the word choice than the fact that it has a reserve of one of its significant exports. "Strategic" implies that maple syrup is essential to defense of the nation.

Having a way to get the credit you need to afford the weapons, training and transportation necessary to defend your nation sounds like a strategic move to me.

It's a valid point. It's still a mildly silly turn of phrase, in my opinion.

It might be a translation error, one way or the other - the maple syrup reserve is maintained by Québec.

Heh.
I will note, however, that there is nowhere in NJ where you can possibly see this sign -- Secaucus/Hoboken and Camden are about 100 miles apart, with Secaucus near Manhattan and Camden near Philadelphia. The Camden sign looks legit, but 76 heads off in the opposite direction from Secaucus after entering NJ, getting farther away, before just ending in the middle of nowhere. Makes me wonder why someone shopped this up, and whether it was done for the game joke, or if it had been appropriated unknowingly for it...

Thanks to Google Street View, you can locate the *actual* sign: http://www.google.com/maps/@39.9029212 ... 6656?hl=en
It's found right after the Walt Whitman Bridge crossing the Delaware River on I76.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was wondering until you dug that up if it had been two unrelated signs shopped together, but yeah.

Unfortunately, Ken Hamm got his ark built. I've seen pictures. It has dinosaurs in it.
