Contains almond extract.

Last week's radio recipe is stuffing-topped macaroni and cheese.
"[F]eel free to sneak a few vegetables into the sauce if you like — peas and chopped spinach are both delicious."

(blows dust off thread)
Now that the trucker-protest is finally cleaned up after (no, it wasn't over just because people left - they left behind a mess), the radio recipes can start up again.
Last week's recipe is for vegan chocolate pudding - it's as vegan as the instant espresso you use in it.

My dinner tonight turned out so good I had to share it: Gyudon and Sesame Bok Choy.
Here's the Gyudon recipe that I use. A couple notes on it: I generally skip the fried egg on top. Don't substitute Splenda or other sweetener for the sugar -- it's there for caramelization. And ignore the note about substituting beef or chicken stock. Go dashi or go home.
I can't give you a link to the bok choy recipe as it comes out of a cookbook we've had for about fifteen years. However, it's so simple i can put it here from memory:
Three baby bok choy per every two people you're serving
sesame oil
salt and pepper
Cut the bok choy in half lengthwise.
Steam for four minutes or until tender.
Drizzle the cut sides of the bok choy with the sesame oil, and then sprinkle with the salt and pepper.
Heat a good, heavy frying pan over medium-high heat and then hit it with cooking spray; alternately, heat up a tablespoon or so of oil in it.
Put the bok choy cut side down and cook until lightly brown. Turn over and cook for another minute or so, until the back side is just browning. Take out and plate. If you want, garnish with toasted sesame seeds.
Notes: Don't crowd the bok choy during the frying stage. Give them room in the pan; if you have to do it in shifts, that's fine.
And this is how it all came out, along with a beer from a local craft brewery:
Yeah, I like my pickled ginger. Peggy has accused me of using gyudon as a reason to eat it.

Allulose is a sugar substitute that can be caramelized if you're avoiding sugar. It's not as sweet though, so you'll need a little more or to use an allulose monkfruit blend or something similar.

Raufikat's Better Bake Along is a show where Raufikat Oyawoye-Salami (the winner of the 2021 season of The Great Canadian Baking Show) teaches two comedians how to bake. If you're in Canada, you can stream all six episodes of the show on CBC's service "Gem". Everybody else will have to be content with just the recipes: - Lemon Meringue Cupcakes
- Birthday Cake
- Raspberry Almond Battenberg Cake
- Boston Cream Doughnuts
- Black Forest Doughnuts
- Spicy Mango and Salted Chocolate Doughnuts
- Matcha and Ube Macarons
- Toasty Pineapple Pastries

Something I tried there yesterday.
Take your favourite mashed potatoe - especially your favourite potatoe for mashing.
Instead of using butter, use Philidelphia Cream cheese - especially the version with chives in it.
It works well
I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed.
One day they're going to ban them.

Why prepared rotisserie chickens are cheaper than ones you cook yourself
tl;dr: they're smaller than the uncooked chickens in the same stores, economies of scale are in play, and they're loss leaders

3 meals you can make for the price of your favourite beverage splurge
In which "the price of your favourite beverage splurge" is defined as "two or three beers".
Saucy Baked Pizza Chicken (serves 2, if you add a salad), Curried Lentils with Spinach, Rice and Naan (serves 4), and Loaded Roasted Sweet Potato Nachos (serves 4). Each recipe has a vegan option.

While looking for places to populate the map of where we decided to put a particular fictional residence in There's Nothing Better, I discovered the closest restaurant had a few recipes up on their website.
Here's one of them: Gypsy Tart

Crispy streaky Rashers, sausages, black and white pudding - all pan- fried in Kerry gold butter, a baked hash brown, all between two toasted buns with a beef patty and a side of fried beans. Add red sauce, brown sauce or a hot relish to taste.
The Breakfast Burger
Pure heart stopping , grease dripping glory.

It's amazing what one finds while researching a story. In this case, it's a Hokkaido salmon hot pot recipe that mainly uses Western ingredients.
