Ethiopia is the only country in Africa without an Independance Day.
They beat the Italians.
I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed.
One day they're going to ban them.

We used to call it "Dominion Day", back in the day when Canada was a dominion. But that term's got too much colonial-era baggage nowadays.
So, yeah. Happy Canada Day, folks!
EDIT: It's still called Memorial Day in Newfoundland, commemorating the first day of the Battle of the Somme, in which the 1st Newfoundland Regiment took approximately 90% casualties. Solemnity first, then the party.
