Rachel noticed tears welling in John's eyes.

“And cats?”

“Oh, their little assholes. Everything they do is because they think it will be more fun than not. Friendly little assholes not completely selfish but definitely self-centered. I deserve them. They deserve me. No one deserves dogs.”

And, first but not least, it turns out there are two new chapters of In the Raptor's Claws: Earth, Romulus, and the War that Birthed the Federation, Galorndon Core: Shran, Archer, and Valdore and Galorndon Core: "Sink the Praetor!"

Captain Sisko, the hero of the Dominion War, once opined that bad news invariably comes in the middle of the night. It was as true at Galorndon Core as it would be over two hundred years later. At 0347 ship time on August 10, 2157, Admiral Archer was stirred from his slumber by the blaring of red alert klaxons across the Enterprise.(fn9) Archer would later claim that the alarms brought him something approximating relief, saying:
