All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XXXI

Is it possible to get oversight or similar on the page intro, given it exists in all prior article revisions?

That would require going back to TV Tropes, which is pretty much impossible after a decade.

If the description actually describes the work and isn't a copyright violation, then I'd say to go with it.

Yes, we can simply hide all revisions save the one with legal text if required.

As to their proposed changes, I do not object to any of them save one:
  • It said that some "would debate [Rain]’s even a girl", which, considering the current political landscape, is painfully true. Nevertheless, it is pretty damn disrespectful to claim that a trans person is not who they are, which is further backed by the author in the FAQ: "[Rain] was always a woman. A trans woman is a woman. Full stop."

While I'm not going to dispute the need for the change, for accuracy, we cannot pretend the earlier dialogue/commentary did not happen, and we should reference, in full, the author's commentary on the question, likely best rendered as a reference note.

We're down to 2329 images from TV Tropes where we haven't identified what the licences should be. Of those, 1095 (approximately half) are definitely not so easy to identify that we can simply add the image's work and trope categories and a fairuse licence to the file page; they're going to need some actual detective work and possibly replacement with better-quality equivalent images where we know the licence terms. (There are probably more images like this in the remaining files, too. I haven't looked yet.)

So, yeah, this is one of those 90/90 projects - the first 90% of the work takes 90% of the time, and the other 10% of the work takes another 90% of the time.

I think I've commented on the wildly-inaccurate estimates on the Lint Errors list.

As of this posting, there are 2,500 errors listed on the "Missing end tag" list. The estimate is 7,368 errors. Somebody really should mention this to the coder of the extension... whoever that might be.

I've just marked "JJ Villarreal" as a spammer, for inserting gibberish into existing pages. (I'd say 300 words with no punctuation is gibberish.) If I erred, feel free to correct my action.

I posted a new topic on Forum:Wiki Updates which everyone should read.  And I'm looking for any feedback on the new review thingy I cooked up.  It's simple - I really don't want to have to pull out Extension:PageForms for this, which I'm not even sure would work.  (VisualEditor might work, but then no one has ever bothered to learn TemplateData which is why VE has never understood our templates.)

This is essentially the prelude to a new {{trope}} and {{work}} template module. I need to get rid of the Reviews:X thing, and I really only want to deploy a new version of the module once.  It creates thousands of jobs on the server, which around 10 years ago was enough to crash the jobrunners.

Now, I've now done enough Lua modules in MW so I can write cleaner code.  I also think I might add a preload thing automatically from the Create New box, so that we don't have to rely on MultiBoilerplate clicks.  And of course, clean up the duplicate ID lint errors.  Speaking of...

I'm fairly sure it's cscott, or someone Dr. Scott works with directly.

Looks good! For styling I might suggest taking inspiration from Wikivoyage's listing editor, but this is certainly serviceable.

I'm automatically in favor of anything that is better coded than our current setup, so five stars from me.
