We're getting ads again...
12-19-2014, 11:27 PM
... and my credit card has to lay fallow for a couple of days, so I can't buy page views right now.

Argh. I knew we were getting low, I just hadn't checked in a week or more. Lemme see what I can do.

Yuku support's been aware of the PayPal problem for at least two days now, and are working on it. Whatever that means. In at least one case a board which hadn't run out of pageviews is getting served ads, so something a bit more is apparently going on. They gave that board free pageviews to quash the ads, btw, so I posted a little beg in the same thread in the hopes they would do the same for us until it's possible for me to top up the board.

Looks like begging worked...
Quote:Dec 20, 2014 | Yuku Team | 6000 days - Ad-Free Credits
If I'm reading that right, we shouldn't see ads until they can take our money again...

*blinks* 6000 days!? Are they serious? That's like six and a half years of ad-free operation! Did someone miss a decimal point somewhere?

Holy cow. I've been busy all weekend with 8 houseguests for a holiday thing, and hadn't checked back on the board. Let me see what they said in the thread.

Okay, latest news off the Rialto: Paypal's still misbehaving. We got 6000 pageviews, regardless of what the note says. More than half those pageviews have been used already. I poked Yuku (gently) about it all.

Not your mistake. Somebody was thinking one thing and typing another.

This makes me think it's counting search engine crawlers as pageviews. There's now way 3000 views could drop that fast....

They're still trying to solve things with Paypal as of this morning, but I've been explicitly told they'll keep pumping pageviews into the board for as long as it takes.

Update: The Paypal problem was fixed in the last day or so. Before that, they had a workaround, which I used to pump the usual $54/270K pageviews into the board on Friday.
