		Hey, new guy introducing myself.

		04-02-2008, 10:03 AM

Bob and a few others would know me as Matrix Dragon over on the EPU forums. Last night, knowing Bob had experience with supergroups, I asked him if he knew anywilling to put up with a freaking MMORPG noob, and he promptly invited me over. Now the only issue is actually joining the group. Is anyone online at the
 moment?

Welcome. I'm Kokuten over on the EPU forums, @Wiregeek in CoH. Online most nights, on Virtue server nigh-exclusively.

I'll certainly do that when I next get on -- which has been a pain to arrange since I got back. (I keep intending to play, and then keep finding myselfclearing up accumulated business elsewhere.) In any case, welcome to the forums Matrix Dragon/MatrixDragon! You'll find a fair amount of schmoozing, planning
and policy-making goes on in this particular board, but it's by no means mandatory to participate here. Just useful.

Bob, you should take a couple of hours and run Psyche with us this friday. If need be, I'll tank for Team 2 so we can kick it into Hyperdrive...Wire Geek - Burning the weak and trampling the dead since 1979

After we get the laptop she wants, but keeps procrastinating on shopping for. She has explicitly stated that her minimum acceptable configuration is equal inpower to the desktop on which I play COH, and I asked her if that meant she wanted to play. She didn't say yes, but she didn't say no, either, so I
figure there's at least a chance.

		!!!!!!!!
I would be more than happy to walk you folk through shopping up a decent CoH laptop - this kind of stuff is my meat 'n veg, as the brits say.

The reasoning behind this, at least for me, is that playing with a husband/wife team is the nearest thing I can come to a 'cheat' in MMORPGs. I had a husband/wife team out of California that I worked with whilst playing EQ, and the power boost from two people with a relationship working in a group is in_credible_. Lookit me and Vyperpunk, for instance.

So yah, enlightened self interest is driving my helpfulness ; )

CoH laptop = Delltop/Inspiron, choose display size, play until you can get 4gb of RAM, GeForce XY00 graphics, where X should be either 7, 8, 9, and Y should be either 6 or 8 (or higher), and memory should be 512mb or higher. HDD/optical to taste, meeces/keyboards to taste, CPU as Core 2 Duo, as fast as the budget will bear.

a rather luxurious build is below - this is available in different color choices. Mine is basic grey, my dad's is a beautiful dark blue (same color as my truck, amusingly enough).

Welcome, Matrix Dragon! Heh. Just so you know, the Trio is for real. There's three people on this account. JC, Mitch, and Steph. Steph, me, is the one mostoften, so you can usually just say hello to Steph, and the boys will correct you if it's wrong.
