What's Up With The Little Legendary?
05-05-2009, 06:50 PM
I ducked in a couple nights ago to play my Negima ripoff character Negi-kun (and get him an outfit with the new magic cloak that looks like his early Mundus
Magica arc costume), and I noticed that aside from one other character, I was the first LL player on in weeks or months. And the base is locked for failure to
pay rent. Is the Little Legendary dead? Should I move Negi-kun and Luna Toons over to Virtue?

Well, once we got the opportunity to get additional server slots, our non-Virtue SGs basically went poof. It ain't just the Little Legends; the Infinity SGs have had a slump too. The Triumph magical girl group has partially moved to Virtue, and so has the Justice VG (Dark Heart High).
It bears mentioning that a good number of our current crew weren't around when we maintained groups on different servers...that was quite some time ago. So when we talk about the branch SGs, it goes whiiiizzzzzz past the heads of many.
The last I remember, Rev Dark and His Lovely Wife (man, I never get tired of saying those names together) had control over the Justice LL ... though depending on how the permissions are set up, it's possible I might be able to pay the rent.
Dunno though. But personally I don't play my Justice characters...well, at all, nowdays. I only did SG teams with them, and, well...

Yeah lots of inertia from our new players in re other servers. Heck, I rerolled QB Kitsune from Infinity on Virtue so I could actually play her.

As one of the new players... I feel I should point out that y'all had pretty much stopped playing on other servers before us new folks showed up. I
wouldn't know that Little Legends existed had I not gone through every post in the forum when compiling the story archive.
I'm just sayin'...

Right, 'new' is purely a relative term in this instance. It's been a looooong time. Like I said, it's really the extra character slots and Virtue-centrism that kicked in first.
Should be said that the branch SGs on other servers were always spotty to begin with. The Infinity and Freedom branches were purely general-purpose Virtue spillover, but the Triumph and Justice groups were theme SGs/VGs. Theme stuff always has problems sustaining life in the long-term.
And the Little Legends concept was a theme group - because the essence of the concept was a 'next generation' team set in the future. Children or successors of existing Legendary characters. Almost all of them were derived from Virtue characters, but the collective conceit was what happened on Justice server was in an 'alternate future'.
Now.
Would rebooting Little Legends on Virtue be possible? I don't know. The children of so-and-so angle doesn't fly as well if they're on Virtue and rubbing shoulders with their older counterparts. Time travel handwaving could be used, but that would get strange if used to explain an entire SG.
It may be possible to re-conceptualize the group on Virtue as a kind of Teen Titans thing. Young Avengers. That sorta deal. Sidekicks, teenage proteges, young fans who've taken up costumed identities...paint the whole thing as a kind of junior or training team.
Or we could all make a concerted effort to go back to Justice. Granted that's less likely, logistically speaking, but it could happen.
Again, you'd probably want to talk to HLW and maybe Rev; they're the ones who came up with the initial concept, after all. I rather unintentionally supplied the name, but...

Mm. I like the "Teen Titans" idea. Both Negi and Luna could fit in --and though Luna is a "child of" character I could revise her
backstory to being a timetraveller, and she'd be fine.

Be it hereby noted that I heartily approve of this plan. Concept. Idea. Whatever it is.

Hmmm. All my Little Legends are children of existing Virtue Toons. But I'm ok playing on different servers so do whatever. Just a reminder there are our
own personal named avatar toons there too (Acyl, LJG, Flame moved his Kevin Reich, my HLW is there too etc....)

Okay... I have one toon on Virtue who could start this up, and at least two more I'm willing to move. How about a name for the group?
Teen Legends?
Sidekicks Anonymous?
I'd really like to jump on this once we get a consensus on a name.

I'd be willing to move one of my 50s over, really, if this gets going.
I like 'Little Legends' as a name, but that might not actually be the best dynamic. I don't know. 'Future Legends'?
'Sidekicks Anonymous' is awesome and amusing, but I'd almost bet that's already taken. =D

Hmm.
I'll add to the list, noting that the previous suggestions are all okay with me too. But, variety!
Legendary: Generations
Legendary Academy (which could introduce a 'school' dynamic of sorts, dunno)

I'll admit, I almost didn't suggest it.
Because, frankly? The thought of "Guest Instructor Major Sawchyk" teaching a P.E. course, or Emerald subbing for the Health teacher on Sex Ed day...
is terrifying.
And let's not even get started with Superball...

Legendary Leadership Annual Meeting Minutes, 7/9/09:
- Motion made by Lora'lai to possibly prevail upon the PPD for their lead computer specialist to tutor comp sci students in replacement for Superball.
- Motion seconded by Evangelia.
- Motion passes on a vote of 3 for, 1 against among Legendary leadership.
- Motion made by Terrence Knight to firmly establish rules and precise curriculum for what said specialist, Nene Romanova, is allowed to teach Legendary
Academy students. (Reasons given: apparent secondhand reputation for her "playful" side)
- Motion seconded by Shizuru.
- Motion passes, 4 for, none against among Legendary leadership

Legendary Academy also has the perfect opportunity for fun in co-op play, as they have a pre-existing Rival School.

Plus, for added irony, we could make Shizuru headmaster because she's the only one in the Legendary Leadership with experience.
....what, the other three are a street smart brawler, an alien merged with a combat cyborg(I think), and a high school student. What do they know about running
a school?

Okay, I guess we've settled on "Legendary Academy." (But with or without "The"?)
I'll move Negi-kun over to Virtue so he can join, and Sailor Loon can join either that or Eleventh Hour... And Tokiha Mai might move over, too...

Numero Catorce would totally teach P.E. for Legendary Academy.

"I don't get it," the student exclaimed. "I can bench press seven tons and bullets bounce off my skin. How can one guy in a green mask pin
me in four seconds?"
"Practice!" exclaimed the wrestling coach, smiling from under his mask. "Once you have put Lord Recluse into a hammerlock, amigo,
everything else is easy!"

Eljay blinked comically behind his full face mask. He hadn't quite realized that his normal expressions tended to make the fake ears twitch as though they were real.
"Huh? Why me?" His confusion was evident in his voice. Which was good, because Evangelia had long ago given up trying to read the faces of heroes with full face masks since Superball's infamous "Playboy Prank."
"Because," Evangelia said, "you have experience at the 'hero thing' that dates to before the First Rikti War."
"But that was against mostly norms," he argued. "Manchester and Portsmouth aren't well-know for harboring a complex cave system which Pseudo-Fascists and crazed cultists can hide in. Heck, the worst I had was some guys in clown makeup trying to rob a Dairy Queen."
"That's exactly WHY we need you," Shizuru said as she entered the meeting room. "Not everythin's goin' t' be as bleedingly obvious as some o' th' street gangs in Paragon. We need your expertise at dealin' with th' more subtle criminals t' be passed on t' th' next generation."
"You call Whitey Bolger SUBTLE?" He chuckled ruefully. "The Family is heckuva lot more restrained than his subordinates."
Evangelia grinned triumphantly. "See? We need you to get it into these kids' heads that 'normal' crooks can be more dangerous than the metahumans they find in Paragon."
The Original Foxboy groaned and rubbed his forehead while Shizuru and Eva did their victory dance. "Just don't lock me out of the base, okay? Gonna take a while to get the funding where it should be."
