Rev, just from the cover blurb of a novel I just bought, I think you'd like it:

The Edge of Reason: a Novel of the War Between Science and Superstition by Melinda Snodgrass. (She created the WildCards series resident alien genius, Doctor Tachyon.)

Quote:There is a secret war.

It has been fought between the forces of fanaticism and the cause of reason for thousands of years. On one side are the Old Ones, malign entities that feed on the suffering of mankind; on the other are the Lumina, an ancient order dedicated to the liberation of the human spirit.

Blurb then goes on to detail minor plot specifics, but hey...

Rev, for those of us in Ottawa who may be dealing with the fall out from this, which museum is it supposed to be happening at?

Sounds like the Museum of Art, I think.

Nature.

Specifically the newly renovated dinosaur exhibit - tipping my hand at this point.

Well, not to me at any rate. I haven't been to any of the museums in a dog's age. So I don't get what dinosaurs have to do with Aryan Angels.
Can't wait to find out, though. Smile

Well, actually Ran I've got an idea, just waiting to the story to hit day 7 before I start writing it down. It stems from an old discussion we had on
VIIOR 1.0. It'll take a bit of time for the to write it out, but Me dropping out of the Sky on day 7 near someone, Possibly you may happen. Suffice it to
say, I'm MIA at the moment. (Even though IRL i was at work when the whole shibang went down, I loves me fiction!)

Hehe. Well, I'm waiting now for the news flash. I'm guessing at this point, enough supers on display are making headlines. Probably young teenagers who
feel really invincible, and want to show off. Especially if they're in older-looking bodies and are feeling the
need to do something dramatic. Smile

Quick edit for you Valles: I'm not located in Georgia. NC. (Didn't I say let me get out before you nuke the place?) Though I suppose if you didn't
know, you wouldn't know either. o_o

I'll have to be creative in getting up to the place, though it shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks, sweno, it seemed to just fit in with things but I'm glad you like it.

My worry is that it happens rather 'early' compared to where other people have progressed to and will cause confusion (such as with Drag0nflight's
response).

Also, please remember, Merior is in the UK, so the range of the comms may be an issue.

In addition, feel free to create a few news items for a "Weird Crap Crisis" type of CNN, CNBC, Fox NEws, etc. Sensationalisation of the events.

He'd likely be using BBC News over there.

For planning purposes, I'd like to know wher you had thought of for the group of kunoichi to gather about. I could come up with plausible ways to get to
anywhere, though it'd take time. And I'd need to know where to get to.

MY idea is either the USS Constellation (and the attending waterfront) in Baltimore or the reflecting pool between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial in DC.

I've been both places as myself, so that's no problem for ME to get there. Presuming that Misty has the same flight speed or slightly higher than she does in-game, it should take 12 hours straight, with stops for food, etc to get to the Washington/Baltimore area. Except for wanting to do a "the RL friends reacting" bit on the First Thursday of the Timeline, I was thinking second Tuesday for the meeting, unless we have something MAJOR happen to expedite it.

Eh, My bad. Smile I got the dates mixed up. I held on to the snippet though, in case we want to work it out in the future.
Basically, I was looking at the device characters use in the environment to send messages to each other. I'm taking a very Stackpole/"I, Jedi" approach to the initial couple of days, sort of examining what a person would do to justify all the things that happen in-game as well as the self-development. I'm not terribly surprised that, writing Mag, I kept having winter flashbacks. It's been too damn near 90, though, so I'm not surprised to be
yearning for Winter at all 8 )

'Tomorrow' is gonna be fun. I'm gonna pull a random toon, we'll see what happens!

Rev. May I assume your battle is in Toronto? OR is it Ottawa? I'm trying to figure for the News Blurb, you see.

Word of Mod here: The CNN reports at least have the following "Virtue" events:

8-man team of Fire/Kin controllers going full-on GIFT in China, starting at Gagora HQ. [If we do anything from their perspective, they will be able to pronounce names like ssdlfkjhsgdgh easily]
Superman clone [Inv/SS tank] rescues kitten from tree, Lansing, Michigan [He had the same add-ons that Atlantea does, so he HAS the shield.]
Rev's Battle, presuming it's Monday in his timeline.
Bank Robbery in Denver, CO by 4-foot "huge" model toon/player.
