Trial-palooza
05-07-2012, 09:38 PM
So, for a while now, I've been contemplating doing a Legendary run of all the Incarnate Trials.
At the minimum, a single league of 12-16 would be able to do all of the Trials one after the other without hitting any of the size restrictions. Alternatively, one could do a team of 8 for the smaller trials before ramping up to 12+ for the bigger ones.
If doing the one league composition, I'd expect we'd run it BAF -> Lambda -> Keyes -> Underground -> TPN -> Minds of Mayhem -> Dillemma Diabolique
Scheduling is, of course, a concern, which is why I'm tossing this out there with no really defined schedule just yet to gauge interest.

I'd have to schedule the time for it around Peggy and family, but I'd certainly like to try.

Would love to try this myself. Do we have to stick with the same character all the way through? Or could we switch out as needed?

I'm for it. May I suggest Memorial Day weekend (May 25-27, plus May 28 for us Americans), or are too many of us interested in doing outdoorsy stuff that weekend?

I'd be all for this. What's even better is I have two Trial-capable characters in the rare chance we don't need a Tank. I also hope we can get in a Magisterium (or six) when time comes to open up Hybrid.

I'd be game for it, though it would of course depend on when the craziness is scheduled. Timezones and all. My only true trial-grade character is a VEAT, but that shouldn't be an issue with any team composition; double leaderships are generally useful.

I'll see what falls around that time, but otherwise I'm game

I usually have at least one cookout obligation on that weekend, but the closer we get to it the better idea I'll have about what we're doing. I should bring it up with Peggy now, though, just to make sure it's on the table from the get-go.

Oh, good point. Although I've already done one 8-hour run with my new PC, it certainly wasn't stressed like a full-load league trial would do.

So, after some consideration (and due to my not knowing my new job schedule and thus not knowing if I'll have Saturday's off any time soon once I start...), I've decided that we're going to try to form this up this weekend.
The main run will be Saturday. I'll be on at 4PM PST and inviting folks that want in, though odds are we won't start till 5PM. Hopefully the window will help folks out.
Ideally, we're going to have somewhere between 12-16 people, so there shouldn't be too many worries about maximum room.
For Trial order, we're going to be going BAF -> Lambda Sector -> Keyes Reactor -> Underground -> TPN -> Minds of Mayhem -> Dilemma Diabolique.
No particular level shift level is going to be required, but be aware that DD's random mobs tend to be 54+2 level enemies.

Raja that... I normally dont to stuff on Sat's so I should be available. Underground is on the list, and I seem to recall that being the one that really needs the status protection of clarion... anyone have that besides 'me prime'?

Mm. I have a cable guy coming this Saturday to work on my net connection; he's coming at 1 and I don't know how long it's going to take. If I make it, I make it, and if I don't, I'm probably offline bigtime.

Well, given that Ops is suggesting a 4 pacific start time that would be 7 for you, so you'll either be good to go or offline hard.

Between 4PM (PST) / 6 PM CST start is about ideal for me. I can do this.
Shall we begin to speak of team composition? Specifically which characters to bring?
A few notes in regards to my own:
None of my characters have the Lore slot yet. So no pets outside of Controller pets (or Vanguard HVAS and the like) unless I gain them during this trial sequence. That having been said, Cyberman 8 and Kara Skye are relatively close to gaining that lore slot. C8 is somewhere around 70% and Kara is close to 90%.
C8 and Kara are my two main incarnate characters who have the most in the way of incarnate stuff unlocked. I'm currently working on refitting their Alpha Slots with the new stuff that was added in the months I was away. They both had Alpha powers before and maxed out. But Agility for C8 and Intuition for Kara are even better fits than Cardiac and Spiritual respectively. Need some Notices/Favors of the Well to max those out - very close on both. And C8 and Kara both have good AOE burst damage Judgements (Ion for C8, Void for Kara) and group AOE defense/buff powers (I forget the names off hand, but the huge heal for Kara and the defense bubble for C8). C8 and Kara also have Damage/Effect Incarnate passive adders to their regular offensive attacks. All told - you want reliable heavy hitters from me, these are my go-to characters.
Less tricked out, but still incarnate, are Lily the Diamond, Startracker Zero, Lora'Lai, And Sassinak. None of them have much beyond a basic Alpha Slot though. They could really use the Incarnate Shards and XP.
Lily is probably the most durable of the lot even without major incarnate powers. And she brings a lot of AOE and aggro management to the party. I wouldn't depend on her as a main tank, but she'd be a very good secondary tank.
Lora'Lai being a Kheld, is the most tactically flexible of course. Tanking, AOE range etc. Can do some minor spot healing.
Startracker Zero and Sassinak are both pretty new incarnates. Sassinak just unlocked her alpha slot and hasn't actually got anything else done. Startracker has a basic Cardiac for END management, but that's about it.
So should I concentrate on bringing my mains? Or work on some of my minors? Or trade out a bit on each trial?

Unfortunately, I have nebulous plans for Saturday night. Can't say if I'll show or not. If I'm not around by 5pm PST, I'm not going to be there.

This visit is not instigated by me, but by Comcast, who've been surveying my connection for the last 70 days as a result of my frequent service calls and complaints. Last weekend they called me and said, "Well.... we've watched your connection die and come back several hundred times in the last 70 days. We're sending someone out to do anything and everything necessary to fix your connection, right down to completely rewiring your house. Our dime." So, depending on what he finds and what he has to do about it, I could well be down at 7 PM.

Okay - wow? Normally Comcast doesn't give a flying rip and will let their customers hang no matter what the problem. Granted - it's taken them the better part of 3 months to get to this point. But that they've even been doing anything AT ALL frankly astounds me. So my opinion of them has up-ticked by a fraction of a percentage.
Of course, up a slight bit from dead ZERO isn't saying much. But still...
Hope it works out for you, Bob! (crosses fingers)

I'm not really planning on locking in a specific team the whole way through, so swapping out alts as we hit different trials is perfectly fine. About all I can say is that the higher level shifts will help when we get to later trials like MoM and DD where the enemies automatically level in higher.
