The End...
The End...
#1
City of Heroes servers shut down at 2:05AM CST on Dec 1, 2012, that 12:05AM PST. It was five minutes more than expected.
I thought I could handle this. I thought I could be okay.
I'm not.
I'm having a hard time writing this because I'm shaking so hard and I can't stop. I'm shaking and it feels like a part of me just died.

We're still here for you.

You're not alone.

I'm crying too, man.

I feel it too folks. I'm just sitting here listening to Postehaste's Stream for a few.

Surprisingly, heard a song that just really fit that I'd never heard before (And is free for anyone who wants to hear it)

It's called City of Heroes.

My mind is slightly blown when Ran handed me a message from the in game system.

User @Mishii has been renamed to @Avatea.

I have known Mishii for over a year, I thought she was this cute little Japanese Girl living in America, she talked about being friends with Avatea and when asked once by a capster, Avatea said Mishii was a close friend.

What makes this truly mind blowing is that once on a Cape Vent chat, Mishii asked me in an overly cute voice to read her a hentai. (Apparently an Australian accent is like Audio crack or something.)

A Dev wanted me to read her PORN! My mind is blown and even though it is a sad day, I am laughing at this one fact.

Ten/Tennant:  (flat)  "What..."
...
"What?"
...
"WHAT?"

...

...

...

...

"WHAT?!"

Uhm.... I guess I do need to thank you.

That almost completely blew my mind off the sad/melancholy state it's in, just through the sheer WHAT THE FUCKERY DICKORY FUCKITY? O.o;

That's priceless. Smile
The thing to remember is that the game may no longer be up, but the characters don't really exist there. They exist with us. And wherever we go, there they are.
When you're feeling better, I do invite you to make alts on Champions. I prefer to see it as the "post Battalion Bubble" story point, where after the player-dev endgame sequence, the Earth we knew is now in a pocket dimension inside the Dreamspace. Portal Corps connects to all different places now, and it's our characters' jobs to study these places, make contact, and if necessary, prepare them to face the Battalion if they ever escape the Bubble.
I discovered in the last few months, that when you finally let yourself move past the pain, you discover your characters are there, smirking at you, and saying, "COME ON! We're not done telling stories, yet! We've got loads more stories to share with you!" And that's when it starts to feel better.
Disney or some other group may purchase the IP. CoHTitan.com may come up with a private server patch. If it's possible to reestablish a connection to Incarnate Earth, I'll be right there if we can swing it. But even if not, my characters are waiting for me in the briefing room over there, smirking and snickering up their sleeves at how maudlin I'm behaving. Smile
This isn't the End. Just the new Beginning. And my heroes are getting restless. Smile

In the words of Buckaroo Banzai - "No matter where you go, there you are."

Or perhaps a little less 'zen' and a little more jauntily heroic -

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do!"

Or even a little crazy...

I was a work when the servers went down for the final time, but i still took a bit of time at 2am. It hurts to know a game that took nearly 7 years of my life is gone, but nothing lives forever (Unless your a game run by Funcom). But, i have to give a little something as a sendoff, so have a little something to perk you up if your still feeling down.

Hehe. Very bubblegum. For a moment, I thought you had posted the Bollywood He-Man snippet. That's five minutes you'll never get back. Smile
And anyone else that doesn't know what I'm talking about, google it. You still won't get those minutes back, but at least you'll have been part of something epically mind-blowing. Smile
