Huks and the Xigana
10-09-2014, 08:51 AM
Anyone do a conversion for the Huks from the 3rd edition version of GURPS Supers?
They'd make for an interesting addition to the alien contingent.
So would the Xigana, to be frank, I was bummed they didn't make the cut for Shapeshifters.
Cheers,
M

I hadn't thought of the Huks, or even (to my shame) heard of the Xigana, until I saw this post. Now I've got the beginnings of templates for both, and will post them when I'm done. Thanks!

And here's the first.
Huk [276 points]
Attribute Modifiers: ST +7 [70].
Secondary Characteristics: Striking ST +10 [50], SM +1.
Advantages: 360-Degree Vision [25], Chameleon 5 [25], DR 18 [90], Enhanced Tracking 3 [15], Extra Arms 2 [20], Silence 3 [15], Super Climbing 5 [15].
Disadvantages: Hideous [-16], Intolerance (non-Huks) [-10], Stuttering [-10], Truthfulness (6) [-10].
* Lenses:
* Blue Huk [-12 points]: Striking ST has the limitation "Only with three arms, -25%".
* Purple Huk [-25 points]: Striking ST has the limitation "Only with two arms, -50%".
My design assumptions are obvious to me, but if any of them puzzle you, please feel free to ask! (I already know I'm going to need to ask Bob about some of the Xigana design assumptions, and turnabout is after all fair play.)

...on second thought, I think I'll just make my own design assumptions about the Xigana and clarify them if people need me to.
Xigana [115 points]
Attribute Modifiers: ST -1 [-10], DX +2 [40], IQ +1 [20].
Advantages: Alternate Form (Wintershape; Uncontrolled Trigger: intense cold, -5%) [77], Beautiful [12], High Manual Dexterity 2 [10], Reputation +1 (stylish sophisticates; Galactic civilization, all the time) [5], Voice [10].
Disadvantages: Coitophobia (6) [-20], Intolerance (beings who are open or casual about sexuality) [-5], Intolerance (hairy or reptilian races) [-5], Odious Racial Habit (snubs non-biped, non-mammal, and small sophonts) [-10], Racial Secret (dimorphism) [-10].
Quirks: Chauvinistic; In denial about their shifting; Prefer temperatures of 65° F or higher, and go to extremes to stay warm; Proud; Staid; Vegetarian. [-6]
Skills: Performance (mating ritual; A) IQ [2].
Skill Bonuses: +2 to Savoir-Faire [4].
Features: Sterile; Taboo Traits (Carousing, Sex Appeal).
* Wintershape [119 points]
Attribute Modifiers: ST +12 (No Fine Manipulators, -40%) [72], DX +3 (No Fine Manipulators, -40%) [12], HT +4 [40].
Secondary Characteristics: Perception +5 [25].

Perks: Fur, Penetrating Voice [2].
Disadvantages: No Fine Manipulators [-30], Poverty (Dead Broke) [-25], Quadruped [-35], Sleepy (1/2 of the time) [-8], Social Stigma (Monster) [-15], Wild Animal [-30].
Skills: Climbing (A) DX [2], Stealth (A) DX+1 [4], Survival (Arctic, Mountains; A) Per+2 [8].
Features: Not Sterile.
EDIT to add advantages to Wintershape that negate repression-related quirks.

We know that the individual Huk listed in 3e Supers has an intolerance of non-Huks, but I don't think there's any evidence that it's a racial trait, unlike truthfulness.

There's nothing said for or against it, actually; I think that came down to whim.

Would Huks get simply SM+1 instead of Gigantism? Why just +2 for ST? Dilton had a ST of 27, they seem like big hulking bruisers as a general rule. Just curious.
Thanks,

Just +2 ST because that's what it says on p.SU75. I considered making Dilton's ST, or something like it, the Huk baseline; I think I'll change that too.

Not a problem.
