Crossovers that Should Not Be 4: Son of Crossover's Bride

#76
Seems interesting... workable, even. I'm not sure where the "should not be" comes in. You *would* want to have some sort of a direct
face-to-face showdown between Mara Jade and Kerrigan, though, just to play on the parallels. For that matter, the light and dark jedi/light and dark templar
thing could get pretty interesting, if played right.

...but this thread is supposed to be about *wrong* things.

like a crossover between My Little Pony and La Blue Girl. Almost *any* crossover between My Little Pony and La Blue Girl, really.

Just so you know Sirrocco...

The Computer Game Beyond Good and Evil and it's heroine Jade have nothing whatsoever to do with the SW universe...

...But now that you mention it...

Jade is from the game Beyond Good and Evil. She is not the Mara Jade of Star Wars. [Image: wink.gif]

Here's a picture of Jade and a Domz: http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/t ... 588-00.png

And here's a picture of Jade herself: http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/t ... 356-00.jpg

It was just a plot bunny. It would be rather hard IMO to work it out without a fair number of assumptions. (For one thing, you have to assume SC and BGE are in
the same universe, and trying to figure out relative power levels between two alien races is always rather subjective, much less trying to figure out how
Hillys and Co. would survive any of this.)

Wrong crossovers: FSN and FFXII? The Gilgamesh Hunt in FFXII features FSN's Gilgamesh. Or... how about School Rumble and Stellvia?

I've forgotten how much I loved BG&E, I might just have to break that back out this weekend.
That reminds me of the lack of a sequel, there needs to be one.
But crossing that with SC:BW, creepy.

but back to the things that should not be:
Dora the explorer + chuthulu (warning: sections of supermegatopia are NSFW)
Read and Die (Read or Die + Call of chuthulu)
Balto's Rain (Wolfs Rain + Balto)
Any kind of cross between Johnny The Homicidal Maniac + Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

I'm on a BG&E roll.

How's this for a cross: Double H is V with a vendetta.

Can't recall if I threw this one into the ring before, but Foster's Home + Fight Club.  Tyler's gotta go somewhere.

If this was a Fenspace thread, I'd caption this one "Okkane-chan transfers to Azu Squadron"

Not a story or a setting per se, but a hypothetical song:

From the hit musical Evanescence On The Roof, the showstopper "Bring Me L'Chaim (To Life)".

I realize this proves I'm totally not-with-it, uncool, out-of-touch, etc., but what is the other anime
to which this refers? I recognize that the cat with the "hair ornaments" is Shampoo from Ranma -- I've read enough of the manga to know
that, anyway. But I'm drawing a total blank regarding the girl and the black cat. (Although it seems like I've seen a picture
of that girl somewhere.... That big red bow is nagging at my memory....)

Edit: Incidentally, I love the secret-agent-style Osaka.

I believe that the anime is Kiki's Delivery Service. I've only seen part of it, but it seemed pretty good.

I haven't seen the anime that refers to "Okkane-chan" but I'm betting that it doesn't do nice things to Ghost in the Shell.

Azumanga Dai-oh. I think. Haven't actually seen it myself, but the face reminds me of it.

Eep! Okay, now I feel old... (I thought everybody here had seen all of the earlier Miyazaki movies...)

Yes, the girl with Shampoo is Kiki, and the other cat is Jiji.

The http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/kiki/]Kiki's Delivery Service information page at nausicaa.net will tell you all you could possibly want to know about this classic movie.

(In case you're wondering in the other direction: http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Animation/Anim ... Ranma_%bd/]Ranma 1/2 link page at dmoz.org)

Yes, the other show in the GitS image is Azumanga Daioh. The girl is Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga, and she... to be nice, she "marches to a different drummer". A comment about that image on Usenet: "The future is doomed."

The series' official North American website is broken (must remember to inform ADV), so http://orangeday.net/azumanga/]here's a fan page.

I trust I don't need to find a decent GitS page for everyone... 8)

Waiting for the sunset to come, people going home

Jump out from behind them and shoot them in the head

"Kiki's Delivery Service." OK, never watched it, but I've seen it on the shelf in Borders, so that's probably how I
sort-of-recognized her hair bow. Mooses gracious.

P.S.: You feel "old"? I'm 50 -- I just got a late start on anime/manga. There are
tons of the classics I've never seen.

Connected by the concept of roles for the same voice actress, note that if Wikipedia isn't totally wrong on this, the seiyuu for the spacy but
lovable Osaka also voices 500-year-old vampire/sorceress Evangeline A.K. McDowell in the various incarnations of Negima.

I feel near-compelled to point out I have http://robkelk.ottawa-anime.org/primer/index.html]a little list of good anime. (And you only have approximately a half-decade on me...)

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=5683]Yuki Matsuoka, yes. She also plays Inoue Orihime in Bleach, Nana in Elfin Lied, and Arisa Glennorth in Stellvia.

Especially with the extra roles I just mentioned... 8)

But if we're going down that road for Crossovers That Should Not Be, I'll pick a few other names off the Stellvia cast list:
Are you afraid yet? If you aren't, I could go get some Crossovers that Should Not Be from http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... php?id=542]Kikuko Inoue's resume... (although that's like shooting fish in a barrel)

Or Megumi Hayashibara for that matter.

Not that there haven't already been a huge number of crossover based on that particular coincidence.

Objection. That was a list of anime... not good anime. It contained Lain. That series caused me brain damage.... possibly literally. I say this, because I
tried to watch it in my then normal marathon... and the last thing I remember was her sister getting her brain erased via phone line and chanting 'Beeep,
beep, beep...' I also remember being glad that Microsoft is dominant and that Apple as the dominant computing force means telemarketers can erase your mind
if you pick up the phone and upload nothing, but a need to buy their products... I also remember lots of shots of power poles and buzzing and microchip based
drugs. I went from watching full seasons of Slayers and the like in one sitting, to barely being able to watch an hour of something without taking off for a
while from lack of concentration abilities. I managed get back most of my marathoning abilities, but still find myself randomly wandering off when I'm
trying to watch something. Which is extremely annoying to everyone.

The only other thing that came close was my attempt to read the book 'God Emperor of Dune'. It took me around 2 weeks to get past the prologue, read
nightly just before I slept. Actually, It was more passing out or something... probably a defense mechanism. Giving up at that point I discovered that I went
from reading around a hundred pages an hour of a paperback.... to a reading speed of 10-15 pages an hour of the same exact books. Its taken me years to get
back around half that speed.

Anything that causes me effects like I've been drawing from a Cthulu Brand, Deck of Many Mental Ailments can't be considered a good thing. Well just
to keep this more thread reinvent...

Imagine a world were recreational drugs have advanced to the point they can be programmed into microchips taken by contact will your moist tongue. Now imagine
that random microchips have special prizes!!! Prizes like super vampirism powers, a shiny new personality (circa 1980s video game enemies), and a wonderful
new religion involving the worship of your new grand master the MCP!!! *polite golf clapping ensues*

Yes its Hellsing, SEL, Tron crossover.

driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His only guide on this journey is Luna, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form
of an Astral Projection that only Harry can see and hear. And so Harry Potter finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went
wrong, and hoping each time that his next leap will be the one that allows him to kill Voldemort."

Yes, the girl with Shampoo is Kiki, and the other cat is Jiji.

You know, speaking of Kiki, if anyone has a copy of Generator Gawl on hand check the third episode. I swear that in the gym class scene when the camera
pans across the students that I recognize two of the background girls as Kiki and Rei from Evangelion.

Now that would be an odd crossover. Kiki spotting a generator and protecting students with her magic, when Rei shows up giving Gawl a heart attack when he
spots, "the size of that Generator!"
