Sunrise Over Britain. (Mature)
bobmin.fanficauthors.net/..._water.php
Incidentally, I ran into this while looking at other things - I'm posting it because I seem to recall that there are people who care. While I was in the area, I tried reading Parallels. I hung on as lon as I could, but the sheer, staggering level of Harry Sue and paper tiger drove me from the page. Is Sunrise/Sunset the same way?

No. It's got an uber-Harry, but in an interesting twist, he's not allowed to act on the prophecy until Voldemort gets equally uber. And unlike most HP fics, Voldemort actually takes over England at the end of Sunset; Harry's operating from exile, in Ireland. It's very different in a number of ways.

Yeah. Summary:
ohmygodpeoplewantupdatesthey'reyellingandscreamingatmeandineedtogetastorytogetherfastgodhelpme!
Spoiler Summary:
Basically, he spends about half the chapter going over how the Curse Seal works. Then explains to Ibiki the parts that the doc didn't tell Sasuke. Moves on from there to questioning the nature of Buddha and Nirvana, spends a couple of paragraphs evangelizing at Ibiki, and throws a quick fluff twist at us to finish off the chapter.--

With regards to "A Different Perspective"...
It started off well. I liked it.
Then it started bringing in all this weirdness. A city near Konoha? Cybernetics? What the what now? And that's just the tip of the strangeness iceberg.
Normally I have no issue with surreality in stories - but that's when I'm expecting it. And it's fine if the surreality is clearly part of the basic premise. Here it just seemed totally left field, not adequately worked in, not adequately explained. So to me, the entire story just...collapses under the weight of all this stuff I can't track. I get confused. I can no longer follow the narrative.
I think that's a shame, since, as I said, I did enjoy the starting bits.
There's something I like to call Bad Fanfic Complexity. This is it. I hit that point several chapters back, where I could no longer grok what was going on. Preachiness is the least of the author's problems.
A friend of mine once said, "If you can't sum up your concept in a single sentence, it's time to go back to the drawing board".

I agree with you. It got so odd, I can't even remember the premise that got me started on this fic.

Silly me. I considered it important enough to get its own post, not be part of the updates. Really should remember to read EVERYTHING first, darn it!
